Will the 2020 NFL season be canceled due to COVID19?

lol its like everyone forgot who the NFL is. The NFL is FAR too greedy to cancel a season. This is a league that went on and played with scabs off the street during a strike. Come hell or highwater, the NFL is playing their season.

NFL owners routinely bully the players union into meeting their demands. Plus NFL players have such a short window of peak performance, losing a season of their career isn't something most of them are willing to do, so they probably would go along with some kind of quarantine restricted season.

I think they cancel the season - still too early for sports to come back.

Sports slowly coming back in Austria and some other european Countries.
Well, lucky we are that we dont have presidents that thought for weeks the virus will go away on its own but some politicians who reacted in time.

It's really not up to the NFL. Unless all the cities that have teams give the okay for them to open camps and play games, I don't see how they can do it. If they get the okay and then some players start testing positive, they would have to shut the season down again. It's easy for folks in areas that aren't hard hit to want sports again but these teams are in highly populated areas. Can you see the New York teams or NO playing games? Can you imagine the outcry if even one player got really sick and died. The players union would go crazy and sue the league.

What tickets. They aren't going to allow fans in the stands if they play. You can't pack 60,000 slobbering screaming fans into a stadium in the fall and winter when the virus is likely to come back strong.

You bring up a good point though. Since they usually require fans to pay for tickets well in advance of the season, how will they handle it when they can't allow fans in the stadium? Are they going to refund the money or apply it to the next season?

I hope they let some fans in . Maybe 25% capacity ? I don't know .

Ofcourse now that the 49ers are contenders again and have the HC/FO in place to finally build this thing the right way and put us in a position to finally field a competitive and deep team that hopefully contends for yrs to come this BS virus comes out of nowhere.

Watching teams like the Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks, and Rams taking steps back and the 49ers shooting up to the top last yr is something I've been waiting for for a long time.

Now the up coming season is in question, who knows what's gonna happen. All this hard work the 49ers put in to finally contend is probably mute if there's no season. So to that and this virus I say F**k you. Go away, just Go....

I don't know how they could do that. How would they keep them from sitting near each other? How would they pick which ticket holders get to go. It's pretty much all or nothing. They're going to have Nascar and golf without fans but those sports are completely different from football, baseball and basketball. The TVs focus on the cars and golfers and the crowds are rarely shown and aren't usually heard. In the 3 major sports the crowd is a huge part of the game. The noise they create giving the home team an advantage. For TV, they love those crowd shots of fans in costumes or kids with cotton candy or ice cream all over their face.

If a player is forced to play and they get COVID-19 they will be sued into oblivion. It isnt like the NBA where the COVID-19 wasnt prevalent in US at a high %. America is roughly 5% of population but we have over 30% of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The odds of player getting COVID-19 is just too high and it will only take one player before 2+ teams have to be quarantined and cant play.
