Will the 2020 NFL season be canceled due to COVID19?

I see that there is already consideration for reducing the season to 12 games by having only one division game and eliminating another game. Only time will tell if they need to do that but they can't keep having these disruptions causing them to redo the schedule every week. If these outbreaks continue then it makes sense to shut it down and gear up and plan for next year. We're already seeing a year with a huge number of serious injuries to star players. Maybe the season just wasn't meant to be.

Only one franchise has potentially broken protocol so far. It's too soon to recommend shutting everything down.

Just shut it down already. It is inevitable.

I don't think so.

People are too selfish and stupid in this country to do the right thing.

Yep. It can't be done safely like basketball and hockey. They need to shut this s**t down.
Why expand the rosters only to shut down a game for one positive player?
Because it's the Patriots and Cam Newton??
I thought this was precisely the scenario for expanded rosters and practice squads, in case you lost a player or two to a positive test result.
Why not give every team an option for exemption or delay a game for a wounded QB or star player?
NFL has different standards and rules for different teams and players

No, because the variance in when an infected person tests as positive means that many players/staff could be positive by the time gameday rolls around

We know something went wrong with the Titans and Cam picked up the virus somewhere. You have the backup QB at KC that tested positive. So no it's not just one franchise. Hopefully nobody else at KC or NE gets the virus but if we know anything for sure about COVID is that it can spread like wildfire if it gets a foothold.
Rigged for the chyyyna chiefs

please don't use logic in here.

One wonders how much the original commenter here wears a mask.
Basically if all 1600 players and all 450 coaches "behave" and follow anti covid measures completely, we have a good chance of going thru the season. But, if one guy, coach or player doesn't follow NFLPA rules exactly, then we don't make it thru the season (ie, anyone in NFL). Unfortunately, even if all do the right thing, there still is a possibility that something else happens nobody thot of and BAM, there goes the season. In MLB, a couple pitchers went out to a steak house for a treat after a game. Both turned positive, and when the team found out about their "dinner" all players voted them off the team.

So self policing is possible...but can be a tad heavy handed.
uh oh
Another big name...

Both the Chiefs and Patriots need to be in quarantine ASAP

How do the decision makers not understand what a freaking incubation period is yet

Money over everything at this point
If the NFL is going to make this work they are gonna have to push the playoffs out farther to give the regular season more buffer weeks, if there are positive cases on a team shut the team down for two weeks to avoid what's going on with the titans right now.
