Will the 2020 NFL season be canceled due to COVID19?

Cancel the season.
what happens, lets say, if it's Chiefs vs. Seahawks in the SB and both and only Mahomes and Wilson test + for covid a few days before. What then?

The NFL awards the Chiefs the Super Bowl as Mahomes continues his historic ascension in to becoming the greatest player ever

They will make a bubble for the SB , and maybe playoffs
Update Covid :

Incredibly, after March/April, things seemed to have gotten somewhat better and anything incrementally better was welcomed. By midsummer we were doing better with flare ups , here, there , but nothing awful. Then FLA got hit with a raft of new cases , AZ, same, due to Indian reservation outbreaks, plus scattered states. Overall, we gradually got going in right direction until Turkey day and then Christmas, making this Dec the one worst month ever for # new cases and deaths.

Dr Fauci called it and begged for folks not to congregate over the 2 holidays. They did anyway and bingo, all time worst of covid.

Latest data show that of 330 million Americans, 5 million have gotten vaccinated, and about half have gotten both shots. (Moderna or Pfizer, which ever is available). A national poll shows that 80 % of democrats but only 45 % of republicans plan to get vaccinated. Must be some mistrust in there, but nevertheless, it's there. To you fellow Repubs...get with it.

For those with kids, Nature magazine just published that if a child gets covid he has a 99.995% chance of beating it. So if you wonder about kids thru age 13-14, if they get it, odds of dying are really tiny. So all young kids really should be in school.

Also, CDC has estimated about 83 million Americans have had the disease, whether with sx (Symptoms) or not. Blend that with the dems and republicans who plan to get vaccinated, and assuming a 50/50 split dem/GOP, we may get to the well publicized "herd " immunity minimum.

45% of half the country (repubs) plan vaccination= 67 million vaccinations planned.
80% of other half the country( Dems) plan vaccination = 132 million vaccinations planned.

Those two groups alone wouldn't get us to herd immunity, at 59% vaccinated. But CDC has figured 83 million Americans have developed covid (with or without sx) by end of Dec. Add that number to the 199 million planned vaccinations, and we get a number of 277 million vaccinated + developed immunity from having had the disease. Together that comes out approx 280 million total = approx 85% vaccinated + immunity from those having had the disease.

Right this moment the impasse is only half the dosages have been given of those received. Big cities seem to have had the worst problem getting shots into arms, and places like N.Dakota have done the best , getting most of their vaccines into arms. Hopefully this gets straightened out shortly and there are some good models coming online.

To all 49er fans and families, and their friends, neighbors, i urge you all to get vaccinated. Why repubs are almost half those of dems getting injections , IDK. But for all of you, the side effects are minimal ( a tiny pain in the arm), and occasionally there are allergic reactions, but those are rare. After injection, all "patients" wait in a room for 15 minutes with docs and nurses who have anaphylaxis drugs and training. This is precautionary but I sure am glad they do it this way.

There is no reason not to get vaccinated once your age group or job comes up, and lots of reason to do so. The more that get vaccinated the bigger the "herd" that has immunity to covid plus those who got immunity from having had the disease, if only minimal sx or some who got really sick.

Once again, fed recommendations are over 65 first, but in CA Guv Gav said over 75 first. 65-75 is next and so on down. I have never asked for anything from this website, but i do strongly hope and encourage all 49ers fans/family/ friends to get vaccinated. The sooner you do, the sooner we will have this under control.

Meantime follow what NFL with 833,000 covid tests have done and shown to be covid beaters:

1. Wear masks in presence of anyone but immediate family
2. Social distance 6 ft.
3. Stay out of closed in buildings or covered areas.
4. Make sure wherever you are the ventilation is excellent.

Do all this and we all get back to normal so much, much quicker. Kids incidentally don't need vaccines, but wouldn't you know LA County school systems plans to vaccinate all kids. Sheesh. WARNING: those who have had reactions to flu shots in past...don't get this vaccine. This is a very tiny few, but if you are one, then covid vaccine isn't for you.

Thanks to all those that change their minds and get vaccinated, plus those who already plan to do so. I am 2 weeks away from my 2nd shot. (Oh, and vaccine isn't really protective until about 4-7 days AFTER your second shot.) So just because you get the 2nd vaccine shot, you still can carry and give covid to someone else if you get exposed until 4-7 days later.

If everyone does this we may actually be able to go to the games again by September when we should be over the 80% minimum of US immunity. The higher the # of those vaccinated the sooner we beat this accursed thing and get back to life as we remember it.

Lol. Dont listen to that.
Meanwhile Cuba will have their entire population vaccinated with their own vaccines by the end of 2021 and will even vaccinate visitors who wants it.
OP here. Thanks, WZers, for your 49 pages of comments and discussions of my original question. After careful consideration of your thoughts, I now firmly believe that

No, the 2020 NFL season will not be canceled due to COVID.

Thx for the info. So glad the people of Cuba actually have a choice.

The post was already way too long so i omitted side effects and who should not get the vaccine. Basically the 15 minutes you are required to wait in a room monitored by medical staff is for acute allergic reactions to the injection, whether the MRNA of covid, the polysorbate or propylene glycol, whichever is used in your particular vaccine. Any allergic reactions of this type would include shortness of breath or wheezing, hives of generalized nature, severe swelling at the injection site where arm looks like an orange /apple size with severe redness, difficulty swallowing or breathing due to laryngeal edema....those are all signs , either singly or in altogether that suggest anaphylactoid shock. A simple shot of epinephrine with Benadryl is usually enough to stop it. But that is what the medical staff there is for.

Generally, if you are allergic to the covid MRNA itself, the sx(Symptoms) won't manifest until 1-2 days later and would normally be like having flu like sx.

So anyone with a hx of the above "anaphylaxis" reaction....should NOT get vaccinated. A small stiffness in the muscle , or tiny redness , is not abnormal.

I suggest you get advice from actual doctors and listen to them. not people on a football forum, especially something of this big importance...but thats just me i guess.
