Will the 2020 NFL season be canceled due to COVID19?

I don't think we will have a season, and I think this plays in our favor. We can draft for the long haul instead of quick fixes for the upcoming season.

Let's use all our picks on O-linemen and fix everything else next season.

Wait, with no football season on any level next years draft would probably suck...
I don't think people realize how much money is on the line. Both in television contracts and player/coach salaries.

There will be a season. The only question is when will it start and for how long will stadiums be empty.

probably a 10-12 game season that begins sometime in October
Of course there won't be a season. The 49ers are good again and life doesn't want that. Lol. Seriously I hope this gets under control by July so they can at least figure out a way to practice.
I don't see how they can return to a normal season until there is a vaccine. The number of new cases are going to come down because we are all home and not congregating in large groups. Even playing games with no fans would be hard since that would involve teams practicing all week. Players are bound to start getting this thing when they're around each other for hours.
It could take years for a vaccine. We aren't sitting in our houses for years. There are other ways to fight diseases than vaccines. Killing a billion people through poverty over the next decade isn't the answer, either.
If there's no football by Fall the world will have much much bigger problems

That would solve the overpopulation problem though.
There talking about no vaccine till 2021, but With Santa Clara saying no sports till November and maybe not even then that could be problematic.

The NFL is a drop in the bucket when it comes to the total economy. They made $17 billion last year and the amount generated was obviously more. Let's say they generated 4 or 5 times that in all the associated jobs in advertising and equipment. That's still less than $100 billion. By comparison, the restaurant industry generated $863 billion last year and the travel industry generated $972 billion. Both of those industries are all but shut down until further notice. The [prospect of no football in the fall may not seem realistic but the prospect of school ending in March didn't either.

True but they only have so much power here. What happens if the virus spreads thru the players? They pretty much have to shut down like the NBA did after Gobert/ Mitchell caught it.

Then mighf as well let Covid19 do it instead.
In any case, it's April 9 today. They can't truly predict what will be going on May 1 let alone September and November. You're telling me they know how different things will be between September 1 and November 1? When they can't currently know the difference C19 will have for CA lifestyle/health/economy between May 1 and May 15? Predicting 6 months from now is a crock.

The real question mark is when will a vaccine be available. We hear 12 to 18 months but it 's possible it could be sooner. Diseases don't just go away on their own. Even if it slows down in the summer it could and likely will come back in the fall without a vaccine. It's pretty likely that mini camps and summer camp are going to be cancelled or pushed back. If they are I don't see how they start the season on time. They can have online skull sessions so the players learn the system but they still need practice with contact before they can play. We've been going through this now for over a month and we aren't near seeing an end to it.
I don't think it will be cancelled but I do think it will start later than usual and probably less games.
