DeFo was an awesome player for us and awesome locker room presence. There is nothing else to be said about it.
Hopefully Kinlaw is the same and I'm Really excited for him.

JK has the potential to be one of the best quickly. A super-sized LB who is able to toss OL and scoot.
No he's over hyped because he's not a 9er anymore. Where was this over hype crap when he was a 49er?? And if I'm the homer, why am I defending someone who isn't a 49er anymore??
Is Russell Wilson a top 5 QB, hell yes he is. Would I take Buckner over Kinlaw,as of right now, yes, anyone saying otherwise is homer.
Here's the thing about Buckner. 1. He was always available. 2. His consistency with his rush (he loves his double swipe move) 3. He understood how to diagnose plays
Those 3 things are what makes Buckner an elite player right now and Kinlaw has a long way to go to become the force Buckner is.
Having said that, Kinlaw has a chance to become the better player because he fits this defense a little better with the ability to stop the run in the 1-3 gaps and his quicker first step. I don't expect Kinlaw to become the pass rusher Buckner is but his bull rush is will hopefully make Bosa and the rest of our passrush have an easier time getting sacks. I think Kinlaw will affect more plays that he doesn't get to the ballcarrier than Buckner when he harnesses his craft.
Personally I think Kinlaw will become a Pro Bowl player, I'm thinking or hoping Chris Jones 2.0 or better. I just don't think it will be in his first year, then again Kocurek is a pretty solid coach I just might prove me wrong.
That and he just has so much talent around him he should shine. Ford/Bosa/AA...will make it hard to double team him, I expect a big first year.

Just be careful with the Chris Jones comparisions because that dude is unaware as hell against the run.

Buck was worth every penny, he deserved that $21M a yr deal, just didn't/wouldn't work for the 49ers cap with guys like Trent, Sherm, Juice, K'Waun, Tartt, and Jones all UFAs in 2021, plus Warner being eligible next year, also McGlinchey, and the trio of Bosa, Deebo, and Greenlaw in 2022. Bosa will cost at minimum $25M, likely get $30M a yr, Bosa shattered the EDGE rush market with $25M a yr, so I won't be surprised if Nick out does his big bro in a few years.
If Deebo develops into our #1 WR, he's looking at $13M-$14M a year, he isn't the conventional #1 WR like a Julio or Michael Thomas, but Deebo, legit, will get paid, and rightfully so. Greenlaw, well, idk, depends on what the team thinks, if Kwon plays good in 2020, he isn't getting cut in 2021 IMO, he'll be restructured, and Kyle said he's the WILL LB, so that leaves Dre as the SAM LB, and Idk how much they would be willing to pay to Dre as a SAM, because honestly I don't see Kwon going anywhere until his deal is up, and if he plays really well, he may be re-signed, same for Dee Ford, I just don't see the team cutting him, no one else on the roster is as good as Dee is, and with Dee, and Bosa, we have a scary EDGE rush duo.
Warner wise, I've been saying, he could hit top 3 ILB money, and rightfully so, he's developing into a damn good MLB, $15M to $17M a yr for Warner. McGlinchey wise, one of the better RTs IMO, not crazy to think he could get around $14M a year.
As for 2021 FAs, Trent is in the $18M a yr range, Juice at his current $5.25M, Sherman should still get a deal worth between $9M and $10M a yr, K'Waun, who is a top 3 Slot CB should get in the $7M to $8M a yr range. As for Tartt if they keep him, $9.5M a yr is fair, same as Ward, if not, Moore can fill in for Tartt. D.J. Jones is interesting, Kenny Clark just got $17.5M a yr, Michael Pierce got $9M a yr from the Vikings, so Jones could definitely get $9M to $10M a yr, which would be out of our range, I can't see the 49ers paying a NT that much. Plus Jullian Taylor is same size as Jones, and a solid NT.
Now, let's hope Kinlaw and Aiyuk work out, cause if Kinlaw is anywhere near Chris Jones and/or DeForest Buckner in 4 years, he will get $20M a year, Aiyuk wise, depends on where he's on the depth chart, but a 1-2 combo of Deebo and Aiyuk for the future is scary for defenses. If I'm the 49ers I do whatever it takes to keep all of these guys I mentioned, except maybe Tartt and Jones, I do want both to be extended, but I can't see them giving Jones crazy money like I said.
Oh and for guys who are starters like Jimmy G, Richburg, Tomlinson, Mostert, Brunskill, Moseley need to be kept, yes even Richburg, as long as he's healthy, cutting him in 2021 only saves $1.7M as pre june 1 cut, $8.35M as post june 1, but we don't see the money till june 2nd.
So my solution is to restructure Jimmy(extend him if he has another solid year), Dee, Kwon, Richburg, AA, and Ward. It would have been risky in the past, but the cap will skyrocket in the next 3-4 years, and we can afford to keep these guys. I honestly believe that they can keep most of their core guys together.

WOULD NEVER mind let Deevah WALK... WRs, they come out every year, you just need to find him,.. tho I'm more of an offensive person, I just love to have a championship Defense.. maybe it's just because of the 80s and 90s team that we had... and how the OFFENSE got the attention, but it was LOTT and the DEFENSE who controlled...
KENNY ANDERSON
DAN MARINO
BOOMER AND ICKEY
JOHN ELWAY AND THE 3 AMIGOS
AND... WELL, THE CHARGERS NEVER HAD A CHANCE.. BUT IT WAS DEION WHO PUT SOME SWAG ON US vs THE Cowboys

With all due respect to DeFo, why are you analyzing former Niners? Is there really a need to compare what he did to what is HOPED Kinlaw can/will do??? Let the guy get on the field and play!!! Last year I learned my lesson. I thought Nick was going to get hurt in training camp. But...DROY!!! I gather that Kinlaw will provide quicker and deeper penetration at the point of attack which bodes well against the run ( Niners outrushed 11 times last year).

Personally I'm going to miss Defo was one of my favorite players on the never got hurt, played alot of snaps every game, was a leader by example. I was sad to see him leave I'm.glad he got a nice contract from the colts. As far as Kinlaw goes at this point it would be very unfair to compare him to Defo that being said he has one of best line coaches in the league and some of the best defensive lineman in the league to learn I really believe he is going to be a very good player for us if he shows flashes this year his rookie year I will be happy, Solomon Thomas really never showed anything it was very disappointing. Next year I believe Kinlaw will become quite the force on the Dline, I'm very happy we got him and have very high hopes for him, this year will be a learning year for him if we can get a whole season in I think we will see a much different player, anyway looking forward to some niner football.

AB, as much as I am an optimist, I still forsee the team losing a ton of great talent because of the cap next year. I just feel you can only keep *one* or at most *two* great stars per year - signing more than two will get you into cap hell faster than an SR71 Black Jet. I.e. between Buck and Kittle, we signed Kittle (as a bit of an example), and we had to let Buck go.
Next year, I can see us lose Trent, Sherm, Juice, but keep DJ Jones (he would be our replacement for a first round DLINE pick, in a sense). In other words, I'd lose offensive starters because I can rely on Kyle either replacing them or developing them and move draft and free agency resources to defense and special teams.
When Bosa is up for his second contract, that's going to break the edge rusher market even more than his brother Joey did.

I'm really high on Kinlaw myself. I REALLY did like Buckner. He was great ... but there were times that I thought, 'man, why doesn't he "show up" more during games?'
I know that is going to sound like I DIDN'T like Buckner, but those thoughts went through my mind at times.
I think it's going to show in mindset/style (call it whatever) attitude of play. Kinlaw just seems to be a "bad MOFO" with a nastier style than what Buckner displayed. If there is no falloff, then that would be awesome for a rookie without OTAs or a real TC. I think that is what we'll see. I hope I'm right.

No doubt that Kinlaw has superior tools. It's up to the coaches to sharpen them and make him into a great player.
