We don't need him to be a great pass rusher as a rookie. We have enough of those in Bosa, Ford, and Armstead. I will be satisfied if he just improves our run defense which was an issue last season. I think he will be better than Buckner in that regard.

He doesn't even get to play 1 game and he's already a bust? Holy moly, some folks need to get real.
Reporters who know jack about football watching parts of some practices. Hilarious

People are spoiled by Bosa and think it's normal for a rookie to dominate like that from the start.

Better before he ever sniffs an NFL field?? Dont ever reply to them again if that's the case.

Exactly, we need him to improve our run defense. He'll get better at rushing the passer, but right now we just need him to be a monster inside.

Personally, and its just me I'm sure, but I'd be coaching him on rushing the passer from the git go. Just looking at the offense, I think if just a couple of people on offense get healthy, this offense has the potential of scoring on the first drive of every game. That puts the opposing team in catchup mode and i think pass rushing will be more important than run defense this year. Kocureks scheme is gap penetration, so i don't know why he's bull rushing so much.Originally posted by mayo49:Originally posted by JTB1974:We don't need him to be a great pass rusher as a rookie. He needs to learn some pass rush moves - he's basically all just bull rush right now.

I actually think Kinlaw is unlikely to bust out - his motor and desire to get better combined with his physical gifts make me think he'll should be able to contribute even as a rookie.

Look I am not going to call him a bust. He is a raw prospect who is one week into his first training camp. That being said, I got to go with what I thought pre-draft of Kinlaw which was that I did not like him. Yes, He was a strong Athletic freak but that was it. He had a lot of bad habits that needed to be coached out of him. In addition to the poor technique he needs to be taught another move other then to just using his strength to Bull rush. That isn't enough at the NFL level. He might be able to be coached up but I think he was too risky of a prospect to be taken at # 13 and I will keep that opinion of him until he proves me wrong. I hope he does prove me wrong.

Yet, it's the same folks who jumped off a cliff when Bosa was injured early in camp last year. The sky is falling, "told you we shoulda drafted QWilliams"

I think Kinlaw can end up being like BY - more known for clogging up the opposition run game, but occasionally getting after the QB, too.

Let me preface this by saying I am not one of these ass clowns calling a rookie, who is a few weeks into their first NFL camp without any offseason due to COVID, a bust.
Ok, with that out of the way, I said something about Solly. I assumed it was highly unlikely a player with that combo of work ethic, motor, and physical tools could bust. The reality is the NFL is tough. It's not just talent and hard work--it's also desire. The desire to be great. The great players live for football. They'd rather be great than anything else in the world. Let's talk after the season is over.

The difference is that Kinlaw has shown better flashes of dominance playing against much better competition and has a more natural/ideal frame. He understands leverage a lot better and is much much more powerful.

He should be fine - just going to take a few games to find his groove.

Kinlaw will be fine. So what he's getting beat in practice, I think that says more about the O-line than Kinlaw. Imagine if Kinlaw beat Tomlinson, people would be calling for his head.
That is a good point too, I agree.
