Still have no worries about him. He's gonna be in the pro-bowl by year 3.

So when our window closes?

Why exactly is the window closing by year 3?

Because everyone around here is a Chicken Little.

pro bowl... which means nothing anymore, it only tells you that he's gotten popular..

my measuring stick for this guy is BUCKO.. he's got to be at least that good (when we traded him)..

There is a small window for teams that reach the top since the salary cap makes keeping the team together a real problem. For most teams it;s about 2-4 years before all the backloaded contracts and deferred money start catching up. The cheap rookie contracts start expiring and if you made good draft picks these guys want to get paid. (see Buckner)

If they continue to draft well and re-sign the right guys they can keep that window open for longer. Especially if the QB steps up to an elite level over the next couple of years

Pro Bowl is more than a popularity contest believe it or not... Also if he does become popular its because he's probably pretty damn good.

Exaxtly. I see no need for them to panic. We all already know they plan to 'at some point let current high paid guys Thomas, Richburg, Kwon, Dee walk for cheaper replacements. For some of those guys like Kwon that replacement is already on the roster in Greenlaw. Now Greenlaw can step up when its time to pay Warner and likely let Kwon walk. Rinse, Repeat.

So the young guys we have will suck in 3 yrs? SF won't continue to draft well? SF won't be able to look into FA to fill in roles?

Why exactly would the window be closed in 3 yrs? Most teams s**t the bed because they lose their HC or QB. I don't see that happening in 3 yrs...

SUBJECTIVE...

Rookie Eric Reid made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, did he deserve it with what he accomplished? NO!!! but he was well liked by the players..

IT's no different than NFL's 100 (annual) Best Players... Popularity..

it's the ALL PRO that I count.. but that's just me..

But the writers who votes for the "all pro" members are extremely biased too. They select players from winning teams year after year.

He made it as an alternate and he did have a very good rookie year.

LOL. I think his real point was he doesn't want to have to wait three years for Kinlaw to become a pro bowler.

Yeah, people need to chill-lax he's going to be a good player.

If Kin was polished at his size coming out of South Carolina, he would have been a top 5 pick. We're a couple weeks into his first training camp with no rookie mini camps/OTAs. Dude is gonna struggle a little.

He will have some success this yr simply based on his size/athletic measurables. That said he's raw, plain and simple... it was talked about through the whole draft process. We have a great coaching staff and everything I've read he's putting in the work to improve. He's got Chris Jones upside and it took him a couple seasons to get where he is now (was also very raw coming out of college).

Like you said people need to chill-lax, patience is need we have a good DL and don't need him to be a pro-bowler the first yr (would be nice though )

All true.

Oscar/David did highlight one concern. It's understandable that he can't beat a veteran in Tomlinson 1on1 but McKivitz was drafted as a T but now is being forced to play G and was weak as s**t coming out (15th percentile). Even a guy this weak can stone the Hulk if he already knows his one move, even at a position he never played before - the solo bull rush won't work. So they need to work hard on teaching him a counter ASAP.

Eh I think we'll still be good. Sorry not all of us are unrealistically optimistic thinking we'll be perennial super bowl contenders for the next 5-10 years
It's almost like once your favorite team makes a move all objectivity goes out the window. Interior d lineman are extremely hard to gauge until live action. Can't just defend all his camp struggles just like you can't be down on a guy losing camp battles. We been hearing about ST being good in camp but for how many years now? Sadly fellas we all will have to wait until real games start. And the chances this guys will be a stud from day one at his position is extremely thin. We will see flashes hopefully.
