If Kin was polished at his size coming out of South Carolina, he would have been a top 5 pick. We're a couple weeks into his first training camp with no rookie mini camps/OTAs. Dude is gonna struggle a little.

He will have some success this yr simply based on his size/athletic measurables. That said he's raw, plain and simple... it was talked about through the whole draft process. We have a great coaching staff and everything I've read he's putting in the work to improve. He's got Chris Jones upside and it took him a couple seasons to get where he is now (was also very raw coming out of college).

Like you said people need to chill-lax, patience is need we have a good DL and don't need him to be a pro-bowler the first yr (would be nice though )

All true.

Oscar/David did highlight one concern. It's understandable that he can't beat a veteran in Tomlinson 1on1 but McKivitz was drafted as a T but now is being forced to play G and was weak as s**t coming out (15th percentile). Even a guy this weak can stone the Hulk if he already knows his one move, even at a position he never played before - the solo bull rush won't work. So they need to work hard on teaching him a counter ASAP.

He'll be fine. He has more than enough quickness and explosion to execute tackle end stunts, as a change up to his bull rush. If Saleh is calling the same rush packages on third and long, Saleh should be fired. I"m pretty sure Kocurek is asking him to gap penetrate on base downs if he's playing the 3-Tech, I doubt he's asking Kinlaw to take on doubles and bull rush unless he's playing the 2i or the NT role in base defense. Why waste all that speed and quickness in taking on doubles? IF I was Saleh, I'd have Bosa call the tackle-end stunts in an audible so Kinlaw can free up Bosa to clock our western divsion midgets, if they are doubling him at 3-tech. All Kinlaw has to do is do whatever Bosa tells him to do.
Pad level is huge with a guy this big. In one of his interviews he said he's always been the biggest guy on the field. Even now, he's probably the biggest guy. All he's ever had to do is bully his way wherever he wanted to go.

If he learns the basics he will dominate. Listening to him speak and knowing his backround, I have no doubt he will come out on top. Smart, humble and extremely driven man.

Who are David and Oscar?
Edit: ah ok Oscar Aparicio. Yeah I wouldn't put too much stock into anything that guy says.

Agree.
I saw a couple of posts projecting Kinlaw as another Reggie McGrew, this is even without seeing him play in a regular season NFL game. Personally, I woudn't make any judgements or projections until I personally see Kinlaw play against real NFL competition. I think it's silly to do so otherwise.

I listen to all pods. There's something of value in all of them. This is s valid concern. I saw it on his 1on1 video too. Way too high and no pass rush plan.

100%. It's OK to have concerns at this stage but not overblow them. I like that he's a very hard worker and self critical and honest about that. He's admitted he's mostly focused on refining his bull rush and winning some reps and then will add some pass rush moves and learn those technical skills.

It seems like this thread got negative all of a sudden the last week, is he having a bad camp?

Here's today's practice report

"Couldn't beat Kofi Amicihia during one on ones. Lost to him both times they faced each other. I've never even heard of Amichia, but good for him. Kinlaw probably will start every game for the 49ers this season, but I doubt he'll play lots of snaps per game. I'm thinking 20 to 30 snaps on average. He probably won't play much on passing downs. There are so many superior interior pass rushers on the roster right now."

It's been like this all week sounds like he's not going to make an immediate impact if he can't beat some one that'll likely be on the practice squad. I remember last week how all the Homers were saying he made Spencer Long retire lol I'm just hoping he'll be an anchor against the run at this point

He'll be alright - just needs to keep improving every week, until the season starts, then go all balls out.

Kinlaw is super sized.

can't wait to see the two of them running stunts on 3rd downs -- and Armstead and Ford on the other side
