Doing some unusual training is a good way to break through a fitness/conditioning plateau.

Boxing is a dumb workout? You got hit a punching bag and move around for 20 mins at a time, it's actually a damn good workout as far as cardio goes…it's also pretty safe as far as getting an injury goes.

this is just one aspect of what they do, but you know this.

Agreed. I once heard a boxing announcer tell viewers to just stand up and move around on your toes, hold your hands up the entire time and throw some punches for 3 minutes. then sit for 1 minute and repeat. Do this 10 times or 12 times. This is much more strenuous than people realize. If you actually spend the 3 minutes punching a bag then it's even better.
