That's a total bummer. I would have loved to see him get 100% healthy and take that next step.
Oh well. I'm not sure what could be fair and realistic expectations for him at this point.
Eh there was no pitch count. He had the most snaps of any interior DL last year by a pretty decent margin. The DAL game he was at about 48 snaps and the 2 prior games was right about the same. Rams game was the only game they really cut back on his snaps, but I think it was because Givens was playing so well
but agreed him getting limited now is a huge disappointment and not feeling great it's going to get much better this year.
Hmmm, maybe I'm mistaken but I thought it was confirmed by Kinlaw himself (?) they managed his tendonitis all last year in-season too. That's why he only had 500 of the 1K snaps and almost all on 1st and 2nd downs.
Basically, he's always had it. Had he been 100%, he gets Buckner-like snaps.
That's exactly what Brian Murphy asked 49ers beat writer Eric Branch on Monday morning.
"I had this question: Is this a big deal or is it not?" Branch said.
"His knee tendinitis flared up at the Senior Bowl in January, so he had to cut it short, he only had two practices. A month later at the Combine, he sat it out because his knee tendinitis was an ongoing issue. He planned to participate at his Pro Day which was canceled in March. And knee tendinitis is just inflammation — easy for us to say, but you probably don't want it — and it's largely very treatable with pretty basic rehab stuff you can manage it.
"A report before the draft was that several teams when he was checked medically at the Combine flagged him for at risk for arthritic knees. That's maybe troubling since he's 22 years old and you shouldn't have arthritic knees at that age.
