Team tried to moneyball with Buckner, and it backfired. You don't replace an All-Pro leader/captain with a rookie. Hope to God they learn from this and don't repeat the same mistake.

This. Roll the dice on injury prone guys in the 6th and 7th rounds, not the 1st. Especially not massive linemen with a degenerative knee condition.

His torso is huge, can't support the rest of his body. This drafting of injured players goes back further than the current regime.

I don't get how an ACL reconstruction is the remedy. Did he tear a ligament or something?
The timeline for return for ACL surgery (re: Javon Kinlaw) is 9-12 months. Once an ACL reconstruction is performed (regardless of the underlying reason for the ACL pathology), rehab and timelines are standard; just like with Bosa. #49ers

1) Quick thread on the #Kinlaw surgery based on reports from the #49ers. Whenever a knee has chronic issues, it's important to look for structural (ligament/cartilage) and non-structural etiologies (biomechanics/overuse). Many times knee irritation can come from instability. https://t.co/QsfvTJ7PSw

2) Although an ACL may appear "intact" on an MRI, it may not be providing stability to the knee. Even though there may not be a full tear, it may have been "sprained" multiple times that it can't do it's function properly. As a result, the knee can become unstable and have pain.

3) When a person undergoes surgery, the muscles relax and you can assess stability better as a person is asleep. In addition, you can look at the inside part of the knee arthroscopically and look directly at the quality of the ACL tissue. The quality can be poor even though..

4) it is not fully torn. If the knee is unstable, then you can move forward with an ACL reconstruction. The end game is still the same..9-12 months before coming back to play.
