On another note, I wonder if he gets any work at DE just to make sure our five best are on the field. Basically fills AA's old role. Keep AA permanently inside, unless Kinlaw keeps his run stuffing ability and becomes a top-5 rusher from the inside.

No. Too lumbering. Dj more mobile at 305.

Then he will just ball out for 2 years and we'll make a decision in 2024 between him and AA. It'll be the first ever 3T controversy lol.

lol he's literally played one season where Covid gave that draft class no real offseason or preseason time to get ready. He got hurt and then had a botched surgery that he had redone and cost him his 2nd season. Lets see him back at 100% for a 2nd season before we talk about dumping a 1st round pick.

Kinlaw wasn't always injured. It was more of a chronic condition that caused him to go on the IR. He's been treated with platelet therapy which is a hit and miss procedure. For some it's miracle cure and for other sit doesn't help much. I haven't heard how he is doing since they performed it. I hope that doesn't mean that it was a failure.

From what was said it was the injury vs Dallas not past issues…the therapy/surgery on his knee this past off season didn't sound like it went well…hopefully the surgery he had this yr fixed the issue.

the physical skill set and drive are through the roof…just needs to actually play football.

It's just that knees don't get better with time. I hope we don't let DJ Jones go. That would be a huge mistake.

Agreed. My hope is that he dominates as AA's backup and then we trade him for a 1st in two years. After the Dee Ford situation, I can't see the team investing huge dollars into a player with knee issues. I honestly think he will if he's healthy.

You think we would get a 1st round pick for a BACKUP D lineman? Holy cow, no wonder the Jimmy trade value thread is so crazy. We got a 1st round pick for Buckner. We wouldn't even get one for Armstaed, let alone his backup. LOL!

Just get Bill O'Brien on line 1
If this draft pick, which was horrible at the time it was made, is the reason we dont re-sign DJ Jones 2 offseasons later, its going to look even dumber than it already does.
Dude is going to come back 400 pounds and be our 1T by simply being a wife bodied immovable object.

I mean, I guess to each his own but hopefully he's not liking going crazy on estrogen hormonal therapy in his time off.

So Gilbert brown??? Sign me up
People are so down on kinlaw. I think he has the work ethic, attitude, and smarts to be a beast. But let's hope that knee surgery cured any chronic problems.

I'm not down on him but understand why people are. Sometimes it's out of sight out of mind. Obviously Bosa had a monster rookie season so everyone knew what we had lost last season. His comeback reminded people of that.

Kinlaw's whole thing was he is raw and needed to improve his technique as a pass rusher. We haven't seen or heard from him in months.

I certainly hope he's hitting his rehab similar to Bosa. If he can come back healthy and hopefully the surgery actually gets him back to 100% or close to it I still think Kinlaw can be a great player for us in the middle. His size isn't easy to find. I'd love for him to spend a lot of time with Bosa this offseason if he allows it or hit up Buckner/Armstead as they work in Hawaii.

Really hope we bring back DJ Jones and Key in free agency. I think that DL can certainly grow on how they finished up this season and Kinlaw can help make it even more dangerous.

But would certainly be nice to see how he's progressing.

The problem is people expected him to be Aaron Donald. 99% of DT's aren't piling up 15+ sacks a year. Kinlaw is a good run stuffer who can rush the passer. People just judge everything based off sacks for DL. Armstead has been a fantastic run defender his entire career, but was always called a bust until he started sacking the QB.

Yeah, hopefully the surgery corrected the problem. We need him on the D-line being a beast.
