Right, but if Kinlaw loses weight, he's going to lose more muscle than fat, which actually decreases his explosiveness. In regards to his power, Kinlaw is a strong dude. The problem is he plays too damn high. He consistently allows guards to get inside his framework. It doesn't matter how big and strong you are in the NFL if that keeps happening. Also, he rarely sets up his power rushes. The dude just fires off the ball and runs directly into the guard without any nuance at all. He needs to actually use his hands with a counter move like a double swipe or arm over to threaten the edges of a guard and open up the power rush.

This season really highlighted the need for bigger, stronger interior DL capable of defeating the double teams offenses assault this front with. Whether that's splitting them, turning them into doubles into singles, or simply being immovable, guys like Givens and Streets proved to be liabilities at times out there.
