I'd say he's faster off the ball than Armstead.

Being first off the ball is not always desirable. In AA's case, he is usually getting double-teamed. Hence, if he pauses just a bit, he can detect which way the blockers are going to slant and counter it.

That having been said, I have often seen him get off very quickly. Usually, it is when it appears he will not be double-teamed.

Just my observations...

Stunts too. Need a slight delay off the snap.

This can mean something totally different out of context. Almost forgot we were talking about a DT
Now is the time to make a play and change the trajectory of his career. Lfg.

Now or never!
It would be nice to have this guy help out. Not banking on it.

the FACT is, he's a close to a bust as possible.. I'd hate for him to start playing very well before his contract expires on us and we end up giving him money that he does not deserve...

We need to see the holes we have and use what we can to get back extra picks..

I agree. Make an impression for his next contract today.

I don't see that happening. I'll use Arik Armstead as an example of a similar situation as what you described but will point out the differences. Armstead showed little in his first three years and was banged up a lot. He didn't miss as many games as Kinlaw, but fact is, we had seen very little.

But the coaches RAVED about this guy. Very similar to Jimmie Ward. And they picked up his 5th year option, presumably because of what they saw in practice.

I haven't heard of coaches raving about Kinlaw to that degree and don't expect that 5th year option picked up. We saw they let Thomas walk. I expect similar with Kinlaw, even if he breaks out, I can't see him getting much from this team.
Made a play.
Made a play but also missed a tackle in the backfield. Ended up playing a lot during garbage time

At this point we just need him to save reps for better players
dude was meh today, he is good to spell reps for #94
This was totally a Trent Baalke pick vibe
At one point there was a play where he looked so utterly confused, it was almost comical. Just completely lost on the field.

Defense picked up when he was taken off the field.
