It was, as it turns out in hindsight, just a poor pick. Part of it was that many teams red flagged his knee. But bad picks happen. Coulda woulda shoulda is useless. A good start going forward would be, draft healthy players only. Thats just part of the problem though. The other part is that Kinlaw isn't that good.

I thot the yr before we had an understanding that in rds 1-4 we would lay off the "I" word , or INJURed players. Supposedly Kin had tendinitis, a common condition, seen in many folks ,athletes and regular folks alike. So i was surprised with that hx that we took him at #14 or whatever it was. But…it was just tendinitis. Then sometime later word is that he has "arthritis" in his knee/(s).

What happened to that "no injured players in days 1 and 2 of draft"? The rest is just hx , and unfortunately despite his physical attributes, he has had knee problems, and they have been more arthritic than tendinitis. Sheesh. C'mon guys…please stay away from "I" players in early rds. Oh, that's right we don't have any picks in first rd for another yr and 2nd is also gone this draft., so i guess we won't be taking any injured players in rds 1 or 2. I hope our 3rd rd pick, our first pick , isn't injured.

I agree the hindsight game is just that.. easy to ace the test with all the answers. Kinlaw should never have been the pick as we never should have bailed on DeFo just pay the man, you draft a stud, particularly a front seven stud, pay the man.

Even after we bailed on DeFo, he shouldn't have been the pick IMO. But no, we should have never bailed on DeFo.

It's been 4 years, time to let go.
No financial benefit to cutting him now. Has less than Zero trade value. So let him fight for a rotational spot during camp and if he isn't working cut him. Or he could get a injury designation and released with a financial agreement.

Are you saying that we are stuck with him because he was a 1st rounder?

attack the post, not the player
Kalia Davis is going to ball out. He will be our DJ Jones replacement.

There is zero cap savings if we cut him. So the only benefit to cutting him is an extra roster spot. Trading would be near impossible since I don't think anyone wants to pay him 5mil.

I agree with leaky in let's see if he can battle for a rotational spot during camp. I'm guessing he gets beat out and gets cut then.

I think the best case at this point is he improves and gets a little healthy to become a slightly below average rotational player.

I hope he becomes a player, but they need to add more bodies. If they're still running wide 9 next season, they're going to need more beef inside. We need a powerful dude well over 300 pounds with juice to get off the ball, reset the line of scrimmage, and split/take on double teams with consistency.

I guess Kinlaw would match up perfect with Salomon Thomas.

Davis moved pretty decent for his size

wondering if we should go 5 DL next year as the base

What do you think of Rankins? With the DT market about to explode and his injury history he could be a guy available for a more reasonable deal.
