He's def not getting a huge deal here, but maybe he gets a one year prove it deal.
This is technically his prove it year.
.. you mean.. " again "
LOL true. Unless he explodes for 20 sacks and is eating guys for breakfast he is not back on the team next year.
We couldn't afford him if he explodes for 20 sacks. All he needs to do is be the 3rd best DT on the team and be willing to sign at his value.

I don't see the 49ers re-signing Kinlaw or franchising him; well maybe if he gets like 12 sacks I could see a franchise tag and trade kinda deal. But with the 49er free agents coming up I'd make Ferrell, Ray-Ray and Darnold priority over Kinlaw.
Let's see him healthy through Thanksgiving before we start talking re signing.

Lol franchising Kinlaw would be ludicrous, pure insanity. Just let him walk and find a replacement who I'm sure can be better in the 3rd or later
I agree. I don't find it likely the niners would use a tag. Even if he balled out and had 15+ sacks, I don't believe they'd use more than a non-exclusive.

He could end up coming back, but unlikely because we're not going to offer him much. Next offseason, we're going to find other cheap free agents for Kocurek to plug in.
If he has decent production this year, some other team will take a risk on his talent and overpay for him in free agency next year.
Id make him a low offer- too much bad history with the knee and he's been paid a ton to do nothing. If he holds up and became something this year, the team is owed a free one lol. Then go cash out in Houston in 2025.
KINLAW himself will be LAUGHING at us if we ask him to comeback.. he'll be thinking of how much we believe he being " A FREAK " and one day will get our money's worth..
we should just ask him to start his boxing career.

No way the Niners are going to re-sign him. They've got Armstead and Hargrave as starters already, with Khalia Davis in the wings. If he balls out this year he'll take too much money to sign, and if he doesn't then he's not worth the roster spot. He'll either go somewhere in a 1-2 year deal to prove he's better, or he'll be out of the league.

If he has a couple more games in a row where he doesnt look useless, I would try to trade him.

Point is I think Lynch would be willing to see if he could get something for him before letting him walk without doing some due diligence. Lol

I get what you're saying. A non-exclusive would guarantee some picks if we lost him.
I think the more likely situation is that Kinlaw shows that he's the 3rd best DT on the team and gets a team friendly contract for 2-3 years.

There's zero percent chance the 49ers franchise or transition tag Kinlaw, he's not a starter, he looks good, but he will get overpaid by some team in 2024, and we'll get a good comp pick.

Why? He's not worth much in a trade especially since his contract is over after this year. But trading a player who's producing on a win now roster for presumably a future draft pick doesn't make any sense. If he keeps doing what he's doing then he's going to be an asset for the team this year.

It does make sense if they believe T.Y Mcgill is better than Kinlaw.
