Big mistake allowing 99 to get inside hands and bench press you with those 35" arms back into the QB. Kinlaw has done a good job this year of firing out of his stance instead of standing up as he's done in the past. I guarantee the coaching point from coach Kocurek now is getting off these block to finish. Kinlaw is starting to win(a lot) his matchups, and the next step is getting off the block to finish. That's how you get paid in the offseason. There was another win against the NYG where Kinlaw smokes the left guard with a chop-swim but allows himself to get slowed on the second half of the rush(maybe he got held from the back). I can't seem to find the rep, but it's on tape.

I forgot to post that Kinlaw did the exact same thing the week prior out of the same personnel/package. This one is even more impressive because you can see the drastic improvement in Kinlaw's pad level. He's so close to racking up sacks if he refines his footwork at the top of his rush, anticipates his wins, uses his hands better to get off the block and works in a counter to the power rushes. He's on the verge of collecting a massive bag this offseason.

ps Hargrave is a monster. Absolutely destroys the center with explosive get off and gets skinny with the swim move. Kinlaw needs to study Hargrave's feet. Notice how Hargrave gets his inside toe pointed directly at the QB after he wins. That helps unlock his hips and shorten his path to the QB. That's Kinlaw's next step in his progression.

I could watch this s**t all day!

Happy for the big fella too.
Hes getting better brick by brick. Hopefully he doesn't regress. He seems to be at the point where he's now beating or pushing his man back. Now he needs to disengage and make the play or finish with a sack!
Maybe sliding him over to DE on some plays will get him more sacks?

The man isn't slow and is very strong.
He is finally healthy and showing inprovement. I think his knee was affecting his pad level and was causing him to play too high. Now that his knee issues are hopefully resolved for good, he is playing lower and it is paying dividends.
Correct me if Im wrong, but most of these good reps come from 5-man line ?
Might be too soon, but if this holds up, I hope we can sign him for one more year. I only say that because I think he can have a really good year or 2 if this trajectory continues and leave for a big offer in free agency.

THE BIG WAIST has got to be more than SOLID this year for us to consider signing him..

Would need to be incentive based on number of games played. There's no way a GM should sign him with guarantees for 2 or 3 years. His knees didn't get better since the combine.
He had a big hit on conner.

Absolutely. I'd only fo a 1 year deal, incentive based where he can get vet minimum but if he reaches certain TFL, pressure, sack, snaps played, and games played numbers, he could earn what he would've got on his 5th year option. Plenty of incentive for him and protection for us. I'd let him walk after because I don't trust his knees, if he dominates, he can get a bigger contract elsew6and net us a draft pick, and I'd like for us to have a buffer year in developing another DT.

If Kinlaw manages to stay healthy AND effective for a full season, and it culminates in what we all want as fans (a SB Championship), Kinlaw is not hanging around for a one-year deal. He will parlay this one good year into a multi-year contract. If not with the 49ers, then somewhere else.

He's a walking talking 2025 compensatory pick.
I wrote this kid off but glad to see he's finally healthy and playing well.

I have no objections. I'll take the comp pick. No way we are tying up guaranteed money into those knees.

Highly doubtful he returns.
If he stays healthy and has good production, a team will overpay him in free agency. We likely won't offer as much as other teams, given his injury history... and he only projects to be DT3 behind Armstead and Hargraves.

But as others have said, he'll help us in the comp pick front.
