Sheeeesh. 49ers in their tite front, and Kinlaw puts the left guard on skates with a demoralizing bull rush. Big mistake allowing 99 to get inside hands and bench press you with those 35" arms back into the QB. Kinlaw has done a good job this year of firing out of his stance instead of standing up as he's done in the past. I guarantee the coaching point from coach Kocurek now is getting off these block to finish. Kinlaw is starting to win(a lot) his matchups, and the next step is getting off the block to finish. That's how you get paid in the offseason. There was another win against the NYG where Kinlaw smokes the left guard with a chop-swim but allows himself to get slowed on the second half of the rush(maybe he got held from the back). I can't seem to find the rep, but it's on tape.
I forgot to post that Kinlaw did the exact same thing the week prior out of the same personnel/package. This one is even more impressive because you can see the drastic improvement in Kinlaw's pad level. He's so close to racking up sacks if he refines his footwork at the top of his rush, anticipates his wins, uses his hands better to get off the block and works in a counter to the power rushes. He's on the verge of collecting a massive bag this offseason.
ps Hargrave is a monster. Absolutely destroys the center with explosive get off and gets skinny with the swim move. Kinlaw needs to study Hargrave's feet. Notice how Hargrave gets his inside toe pointed directly at the QB after he wins. That helps unlock his hips and shorten his path to the QB. That's Kinlaw's next step in his progression.
I could watch this s**t all day!
Happy for the big fella too.
