Kinlaw is a bust. He wasn't drafted 14th overall to have one or two good reps every few games as a backup player. Football is about consistency, and Kinlaw never put together a single complete game as a pass rusher and run defender in his 4 years with the 49ers. The pick was a failure as the 49ers will look to invest into the interior DL this offseason. He has a future as backup player on some other team but make no mistake about it: he's unequivocally a bust.

With that said, he's played well in the playoffs, and I hope he can contribute in the SB because we need the help.

He's played a lot better the last 2 games.

The jury is still out and this is his moment to win or lose.

Hope he wins.

Jimmie Ward was good from the start, he was just always injured. Kinlaw has been bad from the start and is always injured. Like Hero said, the dude has a splash play here and there, but can't string together any consistency. That said, hopefully he balls out at the Super Bowl and earns himself a decent contract somewhere.

That's on this organization love for drafting a player and being like "cool I see you played Safety in college. How would you like to learn CB? Sure we coulda taken Bradley Roby if we wanted a CB but instead we wanna make you spend years out of position just to eventually put you back at Safety"

I remember coaches always liking Jimmie Ward, similar to AA, long before both took off as pro players. I don't remember Kinlaw getting such love in 4 years.

In the above play, surely Wilks should have run a stunt with a blitzing DB/OLB coming up behind Kinlaw to get to the quarterback.

There is enough room for the Titanic there and Kinlaw is a beast at moving the OL backwards.

its hard to see without zooming out but that looks like a cover 2 defense sending a LB blitzer would leave huge part of the middle of the field open for the RB

Maybe but if the DB gets to the QB and sacks him that makes everything else moot.

I know we don't blitz very often and have a bend but don't break philosophy on defence but

Sometimes we don't make the most of the mismatches we create as well.

Kinlaw's bull rush is a mismatch.

Kinlaw really stepped it up last week against GB, especially in the run game. I think our best chance at stopping Detroit's run game is with Kinlaw at DT and Armstead at LDE over chase young (on running downs)

They won't do it but this is probably our best option defending the run.

I agree. Kinlaw is finally the beast on run defence that we saw on tape when we drafted him

He is likely to leave after this game

Kinlaw should be in on as many plays as we can get him in

And early before Kansas City can set the tone on their offence.

Its just something that Andy Reid wont have expected and will give us the Suprise element.

He playing harder because his contract is up. Wonderi what happens if he gets a multi year deal with a decent guarantee?

I would rather spend that money on another big based body like Ridgeway from last year, or DJ who we had and went to Denver. We need a large immovable force down the middle.
Kinlaw is good
