I think this is going to be one of the more interesting camp battles. Dwelley or Woerner. I like both. But again if all things are equal in talent, if I had a choice, I'd always go younger.

This one is easy for me. You go with Woerner because he is such a good blocker and Dwelley is a liability in that part of his game. If Kittle misses time or needs some snaps off you would like to not lose too much in the blocking department.

Agree, I'd like to keep him also, but the writing is on the wall, he's already been interviewed for a HC job just after being a DC for 1 year. He had to turn down the other HC interview to prepare for the Rams, if I recall correctly. Odds are that he's going to be a HC next year -- specially if the 49ers make the playoffs. Its not in Kyle's power to keep him as a 49er DC, its out of his hands. The next best thing is to prepare for the inevitable and start looking for the next talented DC for the 49ers.

That might be Fangio, but I'd rather have a much younger HC that is more from the Kiffin Coaching tree vs the Pete Carroll coaching tree. But that's just me.

Great point about Woerners blocking. I didn't think about that. I was thinking more about the TE backing up Juszczyk as the offensive weapon than the blocking aspect of the TE position.
This guy brings zero value as a receiver. Good blocker but twice I've seen him drop easy crucial catches down the field this season.
Catch that deep ball. My goodness. Hit him right in the hands.

More raps in practice for him. And chillax. He needs go on a date with a jug gun.
Reminded me of a big deep pass that Vance McDonald dropped against Carolina in 2013.

Ball couldn't hVe possibly hit him more squarely in the hands.
He is a blocker. I don't get sending him out for passes. We need to draft a TE in the 3rd that can block and be q decent receiver.

BLOCKER or not... you wait all year long for The Best Young Mind in Football to call your #, the least you can do is catch it...

granted that VM drop was a good pass break up

He looked like he was batting the ball away like a defender.

I can see it as a play the d isn't going to expect and he flat out dropped it. You're a damn TE mainly a blocker or not you gotta make that play. It should be the last time Woerner should get play calls for him, Dwelley should be the one other than Kittle going out for passes since he's shown he can make plays. I personally think the 1 dimensional blocking TE is worthless and just makes opposing defenses job easier, gotta get someone who can do both backing up

Its fine in some instances but that's not where I'm going when I need a play. What are we paying Kittle for if he doesn't get that play?
