I can see it as a play the d isn't going to expect and he flat out dropped it. You're a damn TE mainly a blocker or not you gotta make that play. It should be the last time Woerner should get play calls for him, Dwelley should be the one other than Kittle going out for passes since he's shown he can make plays. I personally think the 1 dimensional blocking TE is worthless and just makes opposing defenses job easier, gotta get someone who can do both backing up
Its fine in some instances but that's not where I'm going when I need a play. What are we paying Kittle for if he doesn't get that play?
didnt he drop a long one last week too?

Brick hands. Use him to block. Not for the deep ball.

He dropped one in Chicago that was pretty much the same situation. I was willing to overlook that one considering playing conditions but yesterday there was no excuse. He's a professional tight end. You gotta make that catch when your number is called. I didn't think the pass could have been any better.

A deep ball throw to a BRICK HANDS TE is not a good idea. If you really want to throw to a TE not named Kittle that's Dwelley. He's known for his hands and making plays. Of course Kittle first. After that Dwelley to pass catch. Woerner to block. He can't catch. Use them the way they are. Woerner is probably a little better blocker than Dwelley. So use him like that. Use each one to their strengths instead of weaknesses.

OK so use them that way. Better blocker block. Better hands guy receive. It's just common sense.

A TE besides Kittle caught a pass!
Was stunned to see Woerner catch it. Then, ran hard to get near a 1st Down.
More cowbell…more Woerner?

He was a solid run blocker who was rarely out in pass patterns. He was also one of Brock Purdy's closest friends on the team and a good locker room guy - quiet voice but well-respected, from reports.
Expect the 49ers to spend a mid-late round pick/picks to replace him and Ross Dwelley.
