Perfect TE2 prospect based on all the run blocking grades being posted. Will not be a liability in the run game. The offensive system will help him get touches in the passing game if needed.

I like the idea of Juice 2.0 - Jusczick is getting a little long in the tooth and we do need some TE depth. I love the way he catches the ball, sorta kinda a little bit like George in that regard.

I think you're spot on with the FB roll. I dont think we're bringing him in to open up anything down the field. A top-blocking H-Back that has experience @ TE and WR is the idea.
I agree that Woerner might be the TE3 but also be a potential replacement for Juice after this coming season. Juice makes a good chunk of money, and having his replacement already here for a year, and making less than 1 million is a good thing.

Initially thought the same but those are probably by old school rules. James Devlin for the Patriots is 6'3",... Rhett Ellison filled in a good amount there over 8 yrs plus in college @ 6'5"...his take on his last gig before retirement...

It's a rare position in which Ellison's height is a disadvantage.

"We were just talking about that today, I was talking with Matt LaCosse about it," Ellison said of a conversation with his fellow tight end, one who is listed at 6-foot-6. "It definitely helps being shorter when you're doing those lead blocks. Football is a game of leverage. Low man is going to win. But if you can do the right technique, you can get your leverage."

Getting down and dirty is nothing new for Ellison. He played fullback exclusively in his senior year at USC and spent time in the backfield with the Vikings. The Giants signed him in the offseason as the main addition to their running game. While they are hoping to see development and improvement from their running backs and offensive linemen, the names at those key positions are pretty much the same. Ellison is expected to be the difference-maker.

"They want versatile guys, and I don't think it's just in the tight end room," Ellison said. "They want guys that can move around all over the place just so you're not stuck with a vanilla offense. You can change it up. Adding guys that can be versatile is going to help you with that."

Being asked to be good in multiple roles sounds like Kyle's type of offense if no one else. His shorter arms are alot less of an issue if you're essentially asking him to fill a usually-shorter guy's role anyway,....plus, being able to split out every now and then and have a height advantage are things Kyle probably envisions.

Nothing to get excited about. He may get 3 to 5 plays a game.
As Bobdawg eluded to,...if he can get low enough to fill the roll of Juice and save us some money,...then some excitement is warranted.

Already a willing blocker....but a big IF as of now just like all of these picks.

You may be selling his role short if he's our replacement for Toilolo as a blocker.
so the team may have already found something they like more from this kid than last year's Kaden Smith... and for that, I'll simply give him a simple nickname..

CHARLIE !!!

As a receiver, you can't compare him to Kittle, as Kittle ran a 4.52, but he may have potential to be good as a more conventional.

Woerner probably is the replacement for Juszczyk next year. Although the salary cap situation is not as dire with unloading Goodwin's contract and Buckner's potential contract, they need to resign Kittle and TWilliams long-term and that's gonna cost. There won't be enough extra to resign all of Sherman and Jones and K'Waun and Tartt and Juice.

lol at people thinking he could turn into Kittle.

Kittle is an elite athlete, this guy is your typical NFL TE with 4.75 40 and meh agility.

but i do like the pick, we need another great blocker, and maybe this guy can learn to run better routes and and can become an okay pass catcher.

I'd say being a 6'3 fullback is quite the exception and that there isn't some new age way of thinking that is asking for 6'3+ fullbacks. I doubt Woerner will be converted to fullback, but if it's fun to talk about go for it.

I thought he was used as a FB in college at times, and his profile did say he could be a FB.

Ya 6'3 might be harder, but look at LBs today, and DL. Our Fred Warner is a 6'3 MLB. So times are changing and the bigger fullbacks might have some value in this league going forward. Especially if they have decent hands, you can throw it up to them over the smaller DB.

Woerner is 6'5. There's something to be said about having natural leverage to get under the pads of LBs on lead blocks. I just don't think Kyle drafted Woerner to replace Juice. I guess we'll see.

Underrated pick, glad they chose him over Hunter Bryant. Heard Woerner is a very good run blocker!!

Doesn't have to replace him, but be able to play FB at times. The FB position is dying, if not already dead. Few guys are like Juice who can run that well, catch, and still block. I think going forward we won't have a traditional FB anymore once Juice leaves, if we keep Kyle as the HC>
