Originally posted by IGSXIII:My problem with certain announcers, (Aikman and Collingsworth being two of them) isn't so much that they show bias in what they say about The 49ers or other teams, but rather that they often get caught up announcing the games from one team's perspective much more than other's. For example, if the Niners or whoever scores, the emphasis seems to more often be on the opposing team's defense, and visa versa when they're on offense.
I think a major reason many fans don't like Collinsworth is that he just comes across as smug and condescending. He gives me the impression that he's looking down on the fans. I think it's just in his delivery and his facial expressions; for all I know, he may be a humble guy in real life. But it is kind of annoying.

They far outclass any other internal options.
Which is wild, because I recall a time when they did the pre and post game shows, but never broadcasted games.

My guess is Dan Orlovsky does color commentary. Going thru their current employees, I think Greenberg could do well with Play by Play
oh hell no to greenberg hell no
Does Steve Young not want the job? That's such an easy decision if he does.

Should put the Ernie Johnson play by play (does a good job on Mlb on Tbs) Shaq and Charles as color and the Jet as Sideline.

Shaq and Charles are a national treasure.
Enjoy it while we have it....that is very very rare.
While I think they can make the switch, I think a lot of what they do deals with the relationships they have in their industry. They might not have that with enough NFL players to pull it off.
ESPN tried that circus environment with Sharpe and Irving and it was terrible. I think that brain trust almost ended ESPN.
