If the Cap drops I think the Niners are better off than most teams due to having alot of contracts off the books after 2020 and some guys who are replaceable. They could just let both Jet and Coleman go, Don't re-sign Thomas and Tarrt and then just find the right contract offers to Sherman, Jones, Blair,Bourne, etc. And they wouldn't lose much in team talent. I think this is the biggest reason they haven't extended Kittle yet, They have no idea what the cap will be and they don't have to sign him yet. Players values will drop(even if slightly) if the cap drops. Chiefs GM is getting alot of praise but they would be one of the teams who would be in deep trouble if the Cap drops.
