It pisses me off that an overwhelming majority of preseasons in the past 10-15 years had us with an away game in week 3 and a home game week 4. Glad this is changing because I couldnt be more tired of paying for the 4th preseason game year in and year out.

NFL preseason - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org › wiki › NFL_preseason
From 1970 through 1977, the NFL season consisted of 14 regular season games and six exhibition games, sometimes but not always three at home and three away (the 1973 Washington Redskins, for instance, played all but one of six preseason games at home), with some played at neutral sites.

There was also a difference in how the teams prepared for the season. Maybe it was because players didn't get paid as much or maybe they just stay in shape better now but I remember the starters playing a lot more than they do now. It wasn't uncommon to see them play the first half almost every game. Now the starters barely play at all in the pre season.

Times are changing. Kyle likes joint practices more than those games and these games aren't good measures anyways. Half of the guys in the preseason sell car insurances a week later for a living. You don't want your 16 Million dollar guy being hospitalized in a game that doesn't matter. You usually play them just to get off the rust. 4 games are far too much anyways.

Into the 70s a lot of players were still working other jobs in the offseason, so training camp / preseason was used to knock off the offseason rust and get guys back into shape.

Rumor has it that the NFL will fly the BLM flag below the American flag on game day. What are your thoughts and will you still watch?
If they do I am done for good.

Stop. This thread is for discussing football. There are other threads for getting all het up about politics etc, in the Lot. But I must say that if your fanhood is this tenuous maybe you shouldn't bother.
Now, football.

I have been a fan since 1977, and have seen pretty much every single game since then, so I would say my "fan hood" has been anything but tenuous. If this issue doesn't bother you I think you might need to reflect on your own loyalties. I have seen no other thread on this topic, so "news" seemed the best place to bring it up

I think one half-preseason game for the starters is good enough to go along with joint practices. Then other two or three preseason games is good for second and third tier veterans and rookies. IMO
