Yeah, it's like they aren't aware of how hard it's going to be to pull this off. The virus is going to cause everything to shut down again.

Pretty sure we won't be having a NFL season this year.

I still remain hopeful. But let's see....

College:

Clemson has 23 guys testing positive.

U of Texas has 16 testing positive.

Zeke in Dallas is +

We currently have one guy testing positive, and a gaggle of WRs,RBs, TE, and QB exposed in Nashville from our one guy who was positive.

This is just pre- preseason, and look at all the damage so far. And we haven't even had 43 vs 43 guys on the field yet. Wait til that happens....

The day before our road game at NOLA, I wanted to watch LSU against South Carolina in Baton Rouge. So, should be good to go.

I second this and good riddance. 2020 cannot serve any more disappointments.
I'm beginning to agree that this season won't happen either. Just wondering if there is no college season how do they draft for next year, what will be the draft order for nfl teams. How will not having football this year effect player salaries, contracts etc for the next season? So many unknowns.

Covid 19 will not disappear. It doesn't even matter if there a vaccine or not. Flu shots never made the flu disappear.

So, there is a high chance that Covid 19 cases will happen every year. That would imply that no football will ever be played again.
On June 19 in 2020 49ers players were tested positive.
On June 19 in 2021 49ers players could be tested positive.
I'm June 19 in 2022.... what's the difference???

There's a season. End of line.

The difference is that with a vaccine you lessen the chance of getting the virus. Flu vaccines are anywhere from 40 to 80% effective in any given year depending on how well they match the strains that are going around. Notice I said strains because flu isn't just one virus. They may have to do the same with COVID if it starts splitting off into different strains. If you do get the flu the symptoms are usually milder since you will have some increased antibodies. They are also finding new and better ways to treat COVID so there may very well be good treatments in the future.

I believe you are wrong on this. The flu is more deadly but less contagious. That's the only difference that far. At one point, people at risk will be most likely be separated but that viruses mutate, therefore, there will never be a cure. As I wrote in the other thread, the players don't have symptoms. Hence, the question will be of people will continued to get tested. Because there's no cure as there's none for other sars viruses. People will live with it. So, why not start now?

Covid has a higher death rate and is more difficult to track because of the incubation period. What are you talking about?

No, data says otherwise.and with every additional positive test the mortality rate shrinks even further. Not to mention that the death toll is faked anyways.

The data sets are skewed so we cant make any claims about the mortality of this pathogen or that pathogen vs covid virus.

In the past all data collection centered around symptomatic individuals soliciting treatment from the health system. No sampling of asymptomatic populations has ever been done. So "mortality rate" arguments are essentially meaningless and can't be compared because the data sets we are using to draw conclusions from are fundamentally different. Perhaps 100s of millions of people had the spanish flu but were symptom free. We will never know.

Too many hoops to jump through with this virus.

The problem with this argument is the COVID virus isn't done spreading. We have a lot more data on flu viruses than we do on COVID-19. The mortality rate for people that contract the disease seems to be higher than for flu but not everyone gets symptoms so there is a lot of confusion over the actual mortality rate. It definitely looks like COVID-19 is deadlier for people that get a severe case because it not only attacks the lungs but is causing kidney and liver damage. Because COVID is new there isn't much immunity out there yet so it spreads much easier.
