I think Adrian Peterson is underrated. He had two season stolen from him in the prime of his career which if played would have been another ~2000 yards and that would put him just below Emmitt Smith for career rushing yards and touchdowns. Had one of the best seasons ever and won MVP

I always find this question to be more interesting than who the greatest QB is. In any event, there have been a lot of great runners over the years. But I really believe only these three have a legitimate claim to being the greatest ever, in no particular order:

Brown
Payton
Sanders

As for guys who could round out the top 5 or 10, I think everyone listed in the poll has a good case, especially Gale Sayers, who was Barry Sanders before Barry Sanders.

If it's for a stretch than Marshall Faulk needs to be on here 98-01
LT also

Yeah, 4 straight seasons over 2k yards from scrimmage for Faulk in those years... crazy

He was a monster. Scared the s**t out of me every time the niners played them lol
Jim Brown was a full back

If we are including Full backs....we need Roger Craig on this list too.
The answer to this question is Eric Dickerson, and its not even close.

Dickerson eclipsed 2k total yards 3 out of his first 4 season. He did it 4 times total, that is something Barry Sanders ( and Roger Craig) was only able to do twice in his career.

The love for Bo Jackson is heart warming, because he had unbelievable potential, but never even rushed for 1000 yards in a season.

My Personal favorite running back is Gayle Sayers, so I am really happy he made the list...but even accounting for 14 game seasons he did not have the heavy weight production of these guys.

Were is OJ Simpson? He was a Monste.......errrrrrrr....... he was a really good Running Back........

There's only one player on that list that you can give the ball to with zero linemen in front of him and he would be the most effective out of anyone on that list:

Barry.

The best football show of all time in their prime was NFL Primetime during Barry Sanders days.

As a kid, waiting until 7:30 EST to see what he did was the f**king s**t !!!

And This
It was only two years, but Larry Johnson in 2005-2006 was pretty fun to watch.
in 89, i thought Christian Okoye was on his way to being one of the best. the Nigerian Nightmare was a beast that season.

Dude was a freight train
How are Terrell Davis and Ladanian Tomlinson not options? I would argue that they, given the criteria, should be ranked higher than an overwhelming majority of the list. Jamaal Charles is better than a lot of that list too.
