Do you want to see writers cover political topics when reading about the 49ers?

When reading about the 49ers do you want to hear about players thoughts on social issues, Jed York's donation to social organizations in response to the riots, etc? Or do you prefer to keep sports politics free, only covering it if is affecting the team. For example, a player getting arrested may result in a suspension, impacting the team.
Pro teams are a big part of the community and sports have always been on the front line when it comes to human rights, especially minorities in this country. Players, whether they like it or not, are also role model for kids.

I dont see the issue with it at all.
Sure, as long as it is not Grant Cohn

And this lol
They can report it all they want, and I'll pick and choose which articles I want to read, just like I do with any others.

It's an offseason when there's no sports going on in other leagues as well for the time being. It's not like there's a lot of pure sports news going on. I'll cut them plenty of slack.

I haven't read a single one of these articles, though.

If it is about THEIR opinions, not really. They should not be writing articles about themselves. If they are covering players/office i do not mind, though i have zero interest in 120 articles.
No, no and no
I'm bombarded with political and daily news. Every step of life (especially in 2020) is flooded with these type of things. I come to the Webzone and sports topics for a break from all of this. It's like a political ad during my favorite TV show. I've never seen one that's changed my mind on a candidate or proposition.
I know how I feel about the equality of all human beings and how we should all be treated with love and compassion. (even Seahawk fans) (maybe during the offseason?) (OK. from afar)

Although it's nice to know the good that players do for society, it's not why I like 49ers players or CEO's.
As far as celebrities go, I don't want to hear a rant for or against any political figure, political issue or person unless they are willing to run for office and then they can talk all they want.

Please keep this thread about the original topic - sports media writers and whether you want them covering politics/social issues.

This thread is not about the actual political/social issues. Those topics are discussed in the non-sports subforum (Parking Lot).
Not surprising that the sports writers would be going to the players and getting opinions on current events since there isn't any real sports to write about. The players have a right to express their opinions and the writers are dying for something to right about other than speculation on the upcoming season.
Not particularly but, with what's going on right now, I think it's inevitable.

More than that, I wish this site would just stop posting Grant Cohn articles. Every now and then I accidentally click on them! Can we just remove them and stop supporting him??
NEVER - Sports is our last refuge from everyday life
Why not ask if an occasional guest piece by a member of our online community on issues such as race and society would be welcome?

The above expresses how I look at this site. I appreciate those who have resisted venting their views in Niner Talk.
