Exactly. This change will not be made because it is the right thing to do (it is), but because it will hurt Snyder's bottom line if he doesn't make the change.

Washington Pigskins.

I like it - it stays away from all the native American things and has a football scheme to it.

derogatory towards cops
Wow, what a joke this country is. No one gave a damn about the name for the last 50 years including native Americans, but here we are in 2020.

Liberalism is a serious mental disorder. They should just name themselves the Washington Diversity Squad. Stay woke, go broke

I love this country brother I don't want to leave. This country has blessed me with so much as a minority and I will defend the amazing laws and liberties we have.

I should be more clear next time.. What I don't understand is how there is so much hatred for this country and this cancel culture that exists. People will complain about everything and we are living in a strange era where everything is a protest including changing the name of a team that has never been an issue
I don't understand why anyone would think that a team meant to give themselves a derogatory name? Teams take on a name that symbolizes strength, so to take on the name of an Indian, Brave, Redskin is an honor to native americans in my view. And over 75% of Native Americans polled said they did not find it offensive.

Totally agree. It's just sad that organizations in any industry will try to please a group in fear that if they don't, they will somehow get boycotted. I get that it's a business and there's a bottom $$, but where do you draw the line? Everyone is literally offended about the smallest things.

I know most don't care on here, but I bet you they would if we grew up as fans of The San Francisco Redskins our whole lives and we were forced to change the name overnight

Well, I have been watching the NFL for virtually all of the 50 year period you mentioned and it is utterly incorrect to say that no one gave a damn in that time, including Native Americans. They did, but they had difficulty getting the subject publicised. The matter, however, regularly surfaced and was disregarded by owners, sponsors and the rest.

Your comment about liberalism is amazingly ignorant.
As long as I can remember since I started watching the NFL in 1990 there have been complaints about the name. I remember articles during their Super Bowl season of 1991.

And that's a lot of wampum.
Times change and what was acceptable 50 years or 100 years ago isn't necessarily the same. Watch movies from the 40' and 50's and see the way balck actors were portrayed. Same for Chinese. It would be considered way out of line to show them that way in movies now. The old westerns nearly always showed the Indians to be ignorant or savage. Times change and usually for the better.
If 49er was some sort of slur I would have zero issue with changing the name.
