With no contact in TC or Preseason games it should give Reed's career as a 9er a boost.
I get that everyone is understandably worried about his injury history, but we have to remember, nobody here is asking him to be THE GUY they are asking him to be a guy. Sure an unlucky hit could yield a concussion but he is going to be on a tight snap count, 2 TE sets and a couple of snaps to give Kittle a breather...that's it, and it will go a long way to keeping him healthy.

Reed is Verrett. Great when healthy but not healthy much.

GREAT just should not be used to either Reed or Varrett.

He's healthy now - clean slate going foward.

Right and both are on the vet min...anything they bring to the table is a bonus.

The Verret comparison isnt even really fair. Concussions vs leg injuries. Very good when on the field over a few years time vs one good year and barely played since.

A timeline of Jordan Reed's concussion, injury history

I hope he isn't pushing it too far and goes on to regret it.

This is very helpful. TY

So two in the last 3 years but that 2019 had to be a really bad one! Now, a year off.

October 2016: In a Week 5 matchup vs. Baltimore, Reed suffered his sixth documented concussion. He initially tried to play through the injury, but entered the protocol following the game. He would miss the team's next two games.

August 2019: In the team's third preseason game, Reed suffered the seventh documented concussion of his football career after being struck by Falcons' safety Keanu Neal. He has missed the Redskins first three games of the 2019 season and counting.

I was listening to Barrows, NY85 and Dennis Brown and they said the thing with him is he's ALWAYS trying to cross over (former basketball player) and be shifty and make people miss and pick up maximum YAC but as a result, he's constantly putting himself in harms way.

Is this something he can really change esp. being around guys like Kittle, Deebo, Hurd, Juice, etc...guys that'll put everything on the line?

PS: tons of soft tissue issues too.

My bet, is if he wins the Lombardi this year, he's going to retire.

Exactly, no pressure - just play their game.

I just worry about REED and his concussions... I worry that he may end up running for a TD on the wrong side of the field after getting hit by Seattle's ADAMS!!!

I already have his nickname ready !!

DIZZY DEVIL !!!

Our offensive Achilles hill the last 2 decades has been finishing in the red zone.. Jim harbaugh, Kyle Shanhan era offenses were good, but faltered once we got in the red zone. We have had Joe Nedney, David Akers and Robbie Gould have had great kicking seasons because many of our trips stalled in our opponents red zone.

We have have good offensive line play, great options at RBs, great tight ends and serviceable QB play.. the only thing missing was a big WR target in red zone / receiver who commands double coverage. TO was the last scary option we had there!

I love George Kittle, but he does not have great and reliable hands to be threat here. He does not come down with contested catches or use his body to play "rebound position" like a deandre Hopkins or Gronk would!

I am hoping that Reed would be a reliable weapon we can deploy in the red zone.. let him rest and not pick up many snaps when we are matching down the field, but in the red zone, we should utilize him in 2TE formations to address our scoring woes ...

Thoughts?

I wouldnt say it has been our Achilles heel for 2 decades. We have had good seasons sprinkled in there. And to be honest, a lot of that poor RZ scoring has to do with quarterback play.

I beg to differ! Arnaiz battle led one year with 4 TDs, Brandon Lloyd led us two years with 5 and 4 TDs, few years ago George Celek led our receiving core with 4 TDs. Vernon Davis has two good years double digit scoring, but he scored most of his TDs on long gains, and Michael Crabtree had couple good years with 6-7TD grabs.

Yet besides Anquan, no one put fear on the other teams defense when it mattered! I am just hoping Reed would be our end zone specialist because he has the body/ skill to do this !!!
