Jordan Reed, TE - retiring

Alright so brief conspiracy theory but follow me here. I personally dont think his lack of being seen on the practice field is on accident. It is serving a 2 fold planned focus by our coaching staff.
1. He is a veteran who doesn't need a ton of practices. Kyle knows coming in (per Kittle quoting Kyle) that Reed is "the best route running TE ever" . So Kyle believe he knows what he has got but also knows he has injury problems so only wants him to practice minimally and save him for the games (especially the first few while low on WRs) .
2. Kyle knows what he has and what a weapon Reed is and he doesn't want anyone knowing how he is going to deploy him. He doesn't even want the beat writers reporting how he is looking or how he is being used in practice. Coming up here practices are closed to the public (even the beat writers). I bet you this is when Reed starts practicing. Kyle is going to have him practice a handful of plays and only a handful of plays that he will be deployed in and he will only practice them in practices where no one else can or will be watching.

End summary of conspiracy is basically saying Kyle knows he is hurting at WR for the first couple of weeks so he has been planning all along by not letting Reed practice in front of anyone to have Reed be his healthy secret weapon that nobody (not even the beat writers see coming).

Yeah, but Jimmie Ward is out there. How's Reed going to play without actual practice ? Is he a roster stash ? Just too many questions.
I understood easing him back in for the first week or so. Eventually he needs to practice though to knock off the rust and get on the same page with Jimmy. Otherwise this won't work.

I'd throw a blue no-contact jersey on him this week and get him some team reps. It's time.

Highly unlikely but I hope you're right.

Reed is a vet but hasn't played in a year so I do think he needs full speed reps to get into gear. Still a couple weeks left. It's not like Reed is some secret to the league. He's been productive and defenses know what he can do when he's on the field. I was saying last week why can't Reed practice with the team, it's not like guys are getting concussed in practice. Then DJ Jones gets concussed in practice.

I'm sure he's made enough money, advice the guy to retire before something bad happens.. it's not like he's going to help this team BIG TIME.. it ain't WORTH IT !!!

Agree. Specially if he's older and also has all those brain injuries. By 50, he could have some severe permanent nerve or neurological symptoms that might make him go the way of Junion Say-oww. Junior was an all pro, but ended up taking own his life and CTE was supposedly a major factor in his death.

and even in his last year w/the Patriots, Junior was just not the same anymore... Bill and the organization literally just gave him a spot on the team so that he can get a RING..

He might need one more off fellas.

I always love a conspiracy theory but Jimmy Garoppolo NEEDS time to feel SOME chemistry with Reed. Otherwise that secret weapon will turn into an INT.

Wow, didn't know that. He was once awesome linebacker when he was healthy.

IMO.... I really believe that he was better than Ray Lewis..
Sounds like he was a monster in 1 on 1's today

Nice. I'm confident saying that he can beat most LBs in man coverage. That's his forte. With him and Kittle on the field, someone is being covered by a LB.

Ya and apparently he beat Tartt twice who previously was locking down everyone else
Holy embarrassment of riches at TE (providing JR stays on the field).
