I will take that as sarcasm, but you are missing the point. The point that I and others are making isn't that we disagree with the political statements being made (although truth be told we often do), but that a game is not the correct forum to be expressing them.

They've been doing it at games since the 1936(?) Olympics.

You sound like the type of guy that believes in free speech zones.

What is a free speech zone? Currently you can argue that you have free speech everywhere and nowhere, depending on how you measure free speech.

Note: You are turning this into an adhominem argument. It doesn't matter if my ideas are correct - people shouldn't listen to me because I am a bad man.

I don't think you're a bad guy... just a little snowflakey.

The fact of the matter is if players have the leverage to protest what they see as an injustice then more power to them.

It's unfortunate you don't agree with it, but that's your call.
Here's an article, for what it's worth. It has some numbers that says 87-92% of Americans do not want to be preached to when watching sports.

Here's an excerpt:
----------------------------------------------
The data clearly shows that 87–92% of Americans don't want corporations and athletes preaching woke politics. You aren't crazy for wanting to watch games and be distracted in these weird times, instead of being told how bad a person you are for not agreeing with a "woke" reporter or athlete's opinion.
----------------------------------------------

Once again, that doesn't mean I don't agree with the point(s) being made at the games. However, I've always used sports as an escape from reality, and politics is too real. lol I want to forget the problems of the world, for just a couple hours, is that too much to ask?

I suppose you could say, just ignore that part of the show if it annoys you. To me, it's like turning on the Cooking Channel, and it's a show about fishing. HUH? I wanted to watch a cooking show? So, I turn on the game, and I get politics? Anyway, my two cents.
well when it's worded that way of course most people will say no. even i would say no. it's a bs number. if that was anyhow true, ratings would be like 500k viewers, not 18 mil, like Thursday Night just did.

I just read last night was down 13% from last year's Thursday Night opener.

ya, somewhere like 10%

personally, i was expecting much lower numbers. at least 10% of those people got rid of cable during this pandemic.

19.3million is still a significant number. A friend of mine was in three fantasy leagues last season. One of them is not playing again. Lack of interest. hmmmm
I never saw the purpose of playing the National Anthem before sports. The TV network typically don't show it so they don't deem it as important. If fans aren't in the stadium it is just another reason not to play it. I doubt anybody at home got their butt off the couch for the Anthem.

Hmmmm is exactly right. Man F Fantasy Football. Each Player is 'Employed" by the NFL or by a "Corp* (Team)?? So would they need to follow Team policy's or the NFL Policy's ???? Asking for a Friend

I don't think I made my point very well.

Of the three leagues my friend was in, one of them (more of a friendly league), did not have sufficient interest to reform.
Not a politics doesn't belong in sports guy but there is a time and a place for it and there is a point where it's too much. I mean it's like that family member you have at Thanksgiving that won't shut up about politics the entire day. You might completely agree with them but you don't want to hear about it all day and you want to talk about something else.

Also with how toxic the state of politics is and how it's infiltrating every aspect of life people are desperate to escape it for a just a moment and now the things you usually do to escape reality a bit are now brow beating you telling you what a terrible person you are if you're not hyper politically active.

But I'll say while politics is a factor in a rating drop for all sports I think another factor with the COVID lockdowns it taught people to learn to live without sports and people picked up other interests and learned other ways to keep themselves occupied. I believe a lot of people are just like "Eh I'd rather play Call of Duty Warzone than flip on the game especially politics is going to dominate conversations."
Almost 2 million people (6% from Previous year) cut the cord on satellite/cable in 2020 1st quarter alone .

That was before the COVID caused the HUGE economic downturn/ unemployment.

Netflix on the other hand added 15 million subscribers in the 1st quarter .
