There's no QB in the world who could've done anything with that. And actually Mahomes did everything humanly possible to extend plays but his receivers were still dropping balls.

See how horrible you can look by just losing a couple of players? Now try losing 50% of your starters like us.

I mean, last year Jimmy played the SB with a banged up Staley, a backup Center and Mike Person at RG.
Even in his 2017 run Jimmy had Beadles, Fusco and Kilgore starting.
Will this FO build a legit OL around Jimmy G to see what he can do with some decent pass protection?
Mahomes had pressure in his face all night but he extended a lot of plays with his legs.

Garoppolo would have been sacked 15 times in the same situation.
Mahomes played like dogs**t tonight. Running backwards 20-30 yards every play before throwing a low percentage at best pass into triple-coverage might show off how talented your arm is, but it's not good QB play. Yea, his o-line was not good tonight, but he made them look even worse by trying too hard to extend every play instead of taking the easier throws. On a lot of those plays there were wide open guys underneath, but Mahomes ran backwards instead to look for something further down the field.

This game pretty much validates the Niners thinking.

Elite pass rush gives you a chance every game.

That's how he won the SB vs us. He even admitted it in the pregame saying he dropped back a mile and just chucked it up for Hill in an unorganized play. One day he won't be surrounded by all star talent with that crazy deal he signed and we'll really see if he's as good as advertised.
Offensive line might be important

And what difference did that make? Tom Brady is a statue yet he is super bowl MVP. What's the difference here? Offensive line.

Yeah he was off from the beginning when he missed that wide open guy.

We need to re-sign Hyder to play opposite Bosa.

That's the one thing about this game that will never change.

You win and lose in the trenches.

You're not going to have much success if you can pass block or rush the passer.

AA's stupid deal is going to prevent that from happening.

I agree that it would have probable been a tough night for Jimmy, but I don't know that he would have done worse than Mahomes.

On numerous occasions the Bucks rush came upfield quickly then flattened out to squeeze the pocket. Mahomes would look away from downfield thinking the rusher's momentum would carry them upfield and give him a chance to squeeze out. When the rusher flattened out, Mahomes was trapped and had to look downfield again. He was in the pocket the whole time, but had totally lost the receivers and was surrounded by bodies.

All of this. I recall seeing an advanced stat indicating that Mahomes had more dropped INTs than any other QB this season and it wasn't even close. Backyard football looks amazing on film—until the luck runs out. And really, beyond Hill and Kelce, the Chiefs have a bunch of unproven and inconsistent WRs/TEs. This is why everyone needs to pump the breaks on the "Mahomes will win eight Super Bowls" talk.
