Poise and Pocket Presence are a traits used to qualify this.

Competition matters. Individual traits and ability matter far more. Josh Allen got drafted early in the 1st round despite having played no real top notch competition and struggling against the only decent teams he faced. Teams saw size, athleticism and a cannon for an arm and ran with it. Carson Wentz is another example of a QB that went early largely based on traits. He didn't play much in college and when he did, he was playing for the Bama of the FCS, a program so stacked that their overall talent level blew away virtually every team they faced.

If Wilson can show up and have a great game against Boise, that is going to help him a lot. If he struggles against Boise, he's still going in the top half of the first round just based on traits alone.

He's got it all. Pocket presence, mobility, arm strength, accuracy at every level, etc. He would be worth the move up to grab him. I'm sure Shanahan and Lynch will do their due diligence on him and see that we need a QB like him to take our passing game to the next level.

I wouldn't say traits matter more. They're part of the whole picture. We've seen lot's of guys with all the traits that failed in the NFL. Traits like pocket presence look good when the pressure isn't as great as you face against good teams. Arm talent is great when your receivers aren't covered as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dismissing Wilson. It's just that I would like to see him do what he's doing against top competition. That's one reason coaches like to attend the Senior Bowl so they can see some of the players that didn't face great teams during the season play against and with better players.

I'll say it right now. We seriously cannot afford to make the mistake of not drafting this kid in the 1st round in the draft next offseason. If Lynch drafts another DL, he's basically sealing his own fate by missing out on a potential great.
he's gonna be out of our range

Yup.

But I pray we're not. I'd trade some significant draft capital to get him.

Not so sure, teams will have Lawrence, Fields and Maybe Lance ahead of him

If we're in the 15-20 range, he'd be worth moving up to get imo. Swap 1st's, add a player, a 2022 1st, and maybe one more mid round pick to seal it and we have our new QB. This is assuming we go around 8-8 of course, if we're closer to the top 10 we may not have to make any moves at all to get him.

yes sir, we need to go all in...
I'm all in. Trade Jimmy. Is a 3rd round pick possible? Resign Mullens and let him start until the rookie is ready to go.

Not sure who would trade a 3rd for him.
I'd say if he had a Great Bowl game he'll get heavy exposure but let's see how he does against a game Boise State on that Awful looking field.
