Zach Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos

What if Lawrence, Fields and Wilson are gone when the Niners 1st pick comes up. Devonta Smith is sitting there along with all the other QBs. Who would you take. I know WR may not be our top priority but the guy is a great receiver. Great hands ( he has one of the lower drop % ever). runs good routes, fights for the ball and has more than enough speed to get open deep. Deebo keeps getting injured so WR may be a bigger need than we think.

Draft a CB

We have invested more than enough resources in the WR room. Can't turn in the Matt Millen Detroit Lions.

EDGE or OL if they don't go QB. or CB depending on who the DC is next season. If it's a man guy, CB is an option for sure.

Are there any ERs worth a 1st round pick in this draft other than the Miami guy?

I don't know. I've been too lazy to start watching them.

Me neither that's why I was asking you. Lol

I mean a stronger arm is cool but....

Well, it eliminates what defenses can do, and not just with respect to overall scheme, but the way corners can anticipate. As former 49ers cornerback Eric Davis put it: "If I'm playing against Garoppolo, I don't care if he has a receiver who runs a 4.2. I don't care. Because Garoppolo can't throw it that far. I'm not worried about that guy running past me, because I know the ball won't get there. I'm looking for the ball. There are some quarterbacks where I've got to play the man, and there are some quarterbacks where I can play the ball because the guy's arm is not strong enough. All of these things come into play."

If Lance is there, easy call. No to any receiver in this draft in the first 3 rounds.

QB Trey Lance. Alabama and LSU have a few awesome wide receivers in the draft every year (lately).

Rousseau is the guy. Basham I like also, would be awesome opposite Bosa. Seen him mocked late 1st, early 2nd. Paye out of Michigan is a first rounder as well. Pitt's Patrick Jones probably in 1st round conversation also.

MEH! There's a difference between not throwing it and arm strength.

Garoppolo had a 56 Velocity rating at the combine.

Dak Prescott 54
Joe Flacco 55
Russell Wilson 55
Patrick Mahomes 55
Cam Newton 56

The fact that your source has Mahomes at 55 ought to make you wonder if it's valid.

For one, we posted a video in the Chiefs thread where he went 62. Second, this source has him at 60 at the combine.

https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2017/3/10/14890754/cleveland-browns-2017-nfl-scouting-combine-qb-velocity

In light of the fact that your source is proven wrong by this video, and the fact that Garoppolo having a stronger arm than Mahomes is UTTERLY LAUGHABLE, you might want to rethink your source. Garoppolo did throw for 56 in my source, too, but his velocity is hovering at average among the people in his class per my source (and well below Mahomes).

And the biggest problem of all: Garoppolo at a combine is throwing mechanically sound, and thus maximizing his velocity. Garoppolo on game day consistently raises his foot incorrectly, which affects his power and accuracy.

So you would rather reach for a QB who may or may not make it in the NFL instead of the true deep threat people keep saying we need. If you reach for a QB at #10 or 11 then you better hope he makes it or you'll never hear the end of it from fans. I wouldn't consider a receiver except I'm concerned about Deebo. He's been here 2 years and he keeps getting injured. He's great when he's in there but without him, the receiving corps is really thin.

I might actually go for a DB or O lineman but I sure would be tempted to take Smith. If we get a 3rd for Saleh and another 5th for Alexander we might be able to move up.
