Not sure who would trade a 3rd for him.

I was thinking hopefully a 3rd from the Pats But realistically a 4th and another late rd pick in 2022

i know right. Maybe a 4th? He will be more like someone to get as a placeholder until the rookie is ready to take over ala Alex Smith. I heard Bill Belichek and Mr Kraft are fond of him

Garoppolo isn't going anywhere even if the 49ers draft a QB. I don't see Shanahan starting a rookie and while Wilson is impressive, its unlikely that the 49ers will be in anyway able to draft him Fields or Lawrence.

Would rather have Mullens as the cheaper option and start the rookie halfway through the season. Jimmy isn't worth the high salary.

Don't see anyway that Shanahan goes into a season with just Mullens and a rookie. I could be wrong but I don't expect it to happen. He's still going to want to win games, need to win games and he hasn't been able to win consistently with anyone but Garoppolo.

My thoughts too, and I'd trade up for any of those 3 QBs, prob have to move up 5-8 spots considering I think the niners finish 7-9

And I don't think a trade up will be there. If the Jets keep losing, Lawrence is a lock at #1. They won't trade that pick for anything. Fields likely goes #2 or #3 depending on who is picking and then if Wilson continues playing at his current torrid pace, he likely goes in the Top 5 and you'll have half a dozen teams in a better position to trade up for him than the 49ers if a team at that spot doesn't take him outright.

Like I said in the other thread, if you're hoping for the 49ers to draft a QB next year, get familiar with Kyle Trask and Mac Jones because those are your realistic targets.

Yeah but if we draft a guy in the 1st we will have around 36-40 million tied up on the QB position. It will make it hard to go after any FAs. We are in cap hell and we need to cut the dead weight to players not living up to their contracts.

The Chiefs made it work for a year, not sure why the 49ers couldn't do the same if that is the route they chose to take.

Yeah I was just looking at the draft order as of now and literally every team before the niners besides like 3 could take a QB, and I like Mac Jones a lot, could honestly see him going in the 1st

History shows that if Shanahan wants a certain player, he will get Lynch to trade up for him.
Mac Jones is an interesting player to watch.

Alex only made $13 million in 2017, his last year with the Chiefs.

Jets-Definitely going with Lawrence if they get #1

Jaguars-Not sold on Minshew and they'll likely have a brand new coach who will want his own QB.

Vikings-Might be looking for an exit strategy from Cousins, especially with only a year left on his deal.

Cowboys-$35 million reasons why they might want to move on from Dak Prescott

Patriots-Cam is clearly not their long term guy.

WFC-Haskins was picked by the old regime and the current one has more or less banished him to the shadow realm. He's already being included in trade rumors.

All these teams are very likely to wind up with worse records than the 49ers, I don't see Fields and Wilson getting past all of them. That is why I'm looking more at guys like Trask and Jones to see if they'd be any possible upgrade and I'm not entirely sure they are.

I'm sure they could find a way to make it work with Garoppolo. Shanahan won't want to have another rebuilding year, that is certain.

Maybe the Pats would do a swap of picks and Jimmy G lol wishful thinking
