That would also be a perk if we make a move up for Wilson (5th year option). I just hope Shanahan will do it, not just sit around and watch as other teams make moves to upgrade their QB but we don't.

We'll painfully watch as we roll with Jimmy and trade up for some scrub nobody is talking about in the 3rd round because he's "tough as s**t". Meanwhile, the top rookie QBs have solid years and look like future FQBs and Jimmy is hurt by game 3

This is probably true. I'm going to tear my eyes out because of Shanahan and his tunnel vision on QBs. Wilson would probably make us a legitimately threatening passing offense.

Do you guys even read what I'm saying?

I'm all for drafting a qb. I'm against trading up assets we desperately need to work out because we can't pay everyone.

The chiefs could afford to do so and still pay alex smith sizeable sum. We cannot.

I'm all for drafting a qb without trading significant trade capital.

I'm against any trade ups that include another first rounder.

For every mahomes there are three rgiiis, goffs and wentzes.

Zach Wilson has high ceiling but also a high bust chance. Drafting him pure off arm talent is risky. Drafting him while trading up multiple assets is taking all your chips and betting them on a single number.

Trevor Lawrence has a high floor so at least you can justify trading up for him. Although I still would not do it.

For Wilson though? You're taking a gamble that if I doesn't work out, sinks the franchise.

But drafting just an average QB wouldn't allow us to win the Super Bowl and then what?

I get what you're saying but there's no amount of draft picks that wouldn't be worth a franchise QB that Kyle wants.

If you believe either Jones or Trask are the best or as good as Wilson, Lance, or Fields then of course we should take them. I like all five of them tbh. It's up to Kyle and our GM to make the right call.

So even if we don't trade up we could be setting ourselves back by hitching our wagon to a QB maybe like Jimmy that can't take us over the top.

I don't buy that only if we traded up would be at risk.

We just have to find the right QB period.

SF will have over $120M in cap space in 2022 by cutting Jimmy/Ford/Richburg and a couple other small moves.

A rookie QB resets the cap space, so money isn't a issue. So moving some picks to go get a player that has a chance to be a LT answer at the most important position in sports, is totally worth it. They will have $ to replace those lost draft picks with prove players. Giving up an extra 1st pick doesn't destroy the team at all imo.

Alex smith was making $13M in 2017, Thats not a considerable amount of money.

You talk about a rookie QB possibly being a bust, well so could the players being drafted with those future picks given up...Thomas/Foster even McG hasn't been worth their pick, Pettis in the 2nd etc.

Sinking the franchise is settling because you were to afraid to go get the player you wanted...if they think Wilson is the guy go get him. If they think Jones is on the same level then draft him.

As far as Wilson goes, it's more than just arm talent.

Lol

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott"
Lot tougher to trade up in the draft when ya win pointless games late in the season

Reminds of of when we missed out on Myles Garrett.

I think we can rule this possibility out now lol. Think we'll just get the best edge or CB at this point

We have to pull a KC - and trade up big if we want a QB. I doubt that will happen. We will draft a QB in the 2nd or third round who will be just another backup type. Pretty much wasted draft pick. FO needs be aggressive and go for that QB.
