Going to have to trade up at least 7 spots now if Shanahan is in love with him

Well that was fun while it lasted

We have to pull a KC - and trade up big if we want a QB. I doubt that will happen. We will draft a QB in the 2nd or third round who will be just another backup type. Pretty much wasted draft pick. FO needs be aggressive and go for that QB.

No time in the history of the NFL has any QB not drafted in the 1st rd been just another backup type. We will get a QB when it makes since to do so. It has always been that way.
still not happening
I don't think Lynch was ever really going to consider a Rookie QB with this roster. I don't think they want to have to deal with growing pains of a rookie. I think they want a vet who is already proven. Then upgrade the roster elsewhere in the first. He isn't going to trade a bunch from limited resources (draft capital) just to move up draft slots.
It shouldn't matter too much for the 'I want more losses/do anything to get ZW' Niners crowd. It's not any more difficult today than it was yesterday.....it's just gonna cost more. Add an extra 1st rounder? Several more 2nds and 3rds? Or do fans 'settle' for their second best prospect?

I think Lance can be there at #15 for us. I think Wilson is out of reach for us now.

Everybody pretty much except for Lawrence is out of reach, unless your opinion is that you don't think Lynch/Shanahan are willing to give up a lot to move up a lot.

I just think he'll be the second or third Qb taken after Lawrence, probably a top 5 pick. Is Lynch ready to go that high for him?

Could very well go top 5 if the draft were held today.

Well, they are basically on record in saying they get the guys they want. Clearly there are limitations to that line of thinking, but if their intention is to get a QB who most people believe will be gone before pick 10, maybe we still see a trade up.

If we were picking top 10 - I could see a trade up, but at #15, it might be too expensive.

The only player out of reach is Lawrence. Everyone is still available. Just depends on how much you are willing to give up for him.

True, especially if your really in love with Wilson. I can see a couple of first round picks changing hands.

My dream scenario is us keeping JimmyG and drafting this guy. Let Garappolo play out 2021 while Wilson gets a whole year to learn the system, get acclimated to the NFL, and bulk up. Im not 100% confident throwing him into the fire on week 1 and considering us contenders. JimmyG in 2021 will keep us a contender and a very talented young guy as his backup. in 2022, it will be a no brainer to get rid of JimmyG and let Wilson take the reins (unless JimmyG completely balls out).

But overall this kid has got it! What really impresses me is his confidence in the pocket. He looks so comfortable going through his reads and making super accurate darting throws. I can just imagine how effective this guy will be in Shanahan's play action calls. Unstoppable!

With a 6-10 record, the 49ers should get the 13th to 15th pick. Who knows if Wilson will even go that high.
