I think a nice trade package would be #12, 2022 1st & 2023 1st, but the team have to give us back a 2022 2nd, and depending on how high we trade up a 2023 2nd, think we can get that done from maybe Atlanta.
That way we're backing our pick will be in the 30's and we only drop 10-15 picks a round.

3 1sts? Even with getting a 2nd back that's too rich for me.

Now that you are done with this coastal carolina game. Watch Jones' ND or Oh st game. You will see a QB who throws more accurately, goes through progressions, already has the understanding of overloaded boxes and faces the pressure a lot better than the game you just watched.
All of that is what you are hoping Zach Wilson(and Lance) will become so that his arm and legs are the advantage that is being touted to be. Give me the guy that already has the more important NFL traits. Bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush.

It seems like we have started to undervalue 1st round draft picks the same way the NBA does. There are huge differences.
1. NBA 1st rounders are often players that are 10 and have one year in college. Very green and usually not ready to play in ther NBA at a high level.
2. The NFL with a hard cap forces teams to restock every year thru the draft in order to stay under the cap. The NBA can just pay a luxury tax.
3. NFL careers are shorter because of injuries. Teams may feel like they are set and suddenly find out they need to replace a key spot like a DE,CB or WR. Without a 1st rounder for 3 years, that task becomes much harder.
I'm not saying that you never trade 1st rounders but I would be very careful about trading away my draft for the next 3 years. It may put the team over the top but it could also stall the team's rebuilding process. A lot would depend on what future contracts look like 2 or 3 years down the road. How many players are we probably going to lose even without injuries. These are things that they really need to look at before pulling the trigger on a huge deal. I know some people are all in and want Watson. The real elephant in the room is the hard cap. If the NFL didn't have one then rosters wouldn't turn over so often and the need for draft picks would be diminished. There isn't any guaranty that any of the draft picks will be good but the chances of success are higher for a #1 pick than a #2 or #3. Getting a player like Watson could put the teram in the SB 2 or 3 times but it could backfire if he gets injured or if they can't afford to keep the team together because of his salary.
There isn't a right or wrong move here. It's just 2 ways of looking t the same problem.

I've been checking out what the Jets fans have been saying ever since they hired Saleh and LaFleur. The overwhelming consensus is they don't want Darnold and they want to go after Zach Wilson especially given they will be installing Shanny's offense. One argument is Darnold's rookie contract will be up after next season. So, say the Jets go 6-10 or even 8-8, they don't think there is enough body of work to warrant an extension for Darnold given how crap he has been to date.
The more I think about it, I just think it really is a long shot to be able to land Wilson. I think to be safe, you will need the #2 overall pick from Saleh if you want to make it happen. Trey Lance is probably a more realistic target, but even then you will most likely need to trade up, just too many teams needing QBs this year plus next year's QB class is supposed to be worse.

Watched the championship game, I see what you see and although it interests me, his arm and mobility scare me.
These other guys have +NFL arms, Mac has a just NFL arm. I'll watch ND though.
I understand what you're saying but Mac can never have the arm or mobility I want out of my modern day QB.
If Lance or Wilson develop the field vision and anticipation, I get a stud.

What would the fans know about it???!!! Plus it only matter what Douglas thinks.
It's definitely a possibility, and I'm not trying to get to #2, but draft Fields or keep Darnold are both options.

Have you looked at the draft order?
Tell me, how many teams before us might take a QB? Even if you discount the Jets, you will still need to run the gauntlet of a good handful of teams.

Agreed. I wouldn't do 3 1st rounders. I'm a huge Zach Wilson fan but that's too much

Absolutely, Dolphins stick with Tua, but do they trade or draft Sewell?
Falcons depends what they think of Ryan, are they rebuilding or reloading. I can't see a player that fits need for value for them, it's early for the CB's, Micah Parsons and any Edge. I also think they'd like Najee now they have Smith, I would trade.
Bengals desperate for OL but could trade and get a later one.
Eagles seem set on keeping Wentz and getting him weapons.
Lions read Falcons, though Parsons is a good fit here.
Panthers, who knows, they should do it, but seem to want to build the nest.
Probably all you need to list as the rest are in easy trade reach unless they love a guy. Then there's also the teams below is offering more, but why worry about that. You have your price and stick to it.

That's fair, but if you consider our roster we don't need that much more talent, we need to keep the guys we're struggling to pay. A QB on a rookie deal helps that.
You have to be careful who you trade with, as you don't want the 2nd rounder(s) you get back to be in the 60's, but if they're in the 40's you're laughing.

Let's say if Zach Wilson is there at 4 overall. I would part with our 1st and 2nd this year and 1st next year. I agree that getting a QB on a rookie deal would help us keep a lot of talent on the team

Jet fans have been done with Sam for over a yr...typical fans can't be patient and realize coaching/roster matters.
Sam would thrive in a shanny scheme. He just needs help around him.
