Absolutely, QB's that rely on perfect footwork to throw well, then have issues under pressure or off platform.

Thing for me with Wilson is that you've seen great footwork, just needs to be more consistent.
what is inconsistent or bad footwork in your own opinion. is that in the dropback or when pressured in the pocket or whatever else?

I don't remember seeing it that bad.. i might have to go back and rewatch some games

He's great on the move, he can get a bit ancy in the pocket (pressure or not) and just use his very gifted arm on throws he could set his feet. Can lead to some accuracy issues.

I love his throwing motion though, always snaps his hips through, and seems to be constantly ready to throw with his backfoot loaded and ready to go.

That was an issue I saw with Lance, he's on his front foot too long and then has to dip and sink his backleg to throw. His motion is still good and his release is quick, but this dip just takes longer than he needs to.

The lesser the talent, the more important fundamentals are to be functional. The greater the talent, fundamentals allow you to become more consistently dominant.

Exceptional post, I completely agree

Thanks

I always took that anciness as just being fluid/mobile in the pocket so he can get out of jam fast.

The big question is going to be what the best option is out of

Trade up for Wilson

Sit back and draft Lance or Jones at #12

Or stick with Jimmy

I'm leaning towards Wilson, but the cost may be prohibitive.

If we strike gold with Wilson, are we really worried about cost?

No, but it adds pressure all around.

Nope. He's got all the tools to be great. It would be worth taking the plunge to get him. Then they can release JG and address the rest of the team with their newly found financial freedom

If this was January 2017 I can see why it would be too much. But we've got a lot of key positions filled. Wilson could help us keep more key players with his low salary. Warner, bosa, greenlaw deebo

If Stafford is available I´d trade our #12 for him.

I like WIlson a lot though but I think that our team is ready to win now and with a rookie we´d have to wait 2 or 3 years to have a chance and by that time we won´t be able to keep our best players.

Lance isn't gonna be there at 12.

I'm not moving the 12th overall pick for Stafford. Couple 2nds is more reasonable imo.

I also disagree you have to wait 2/3 yrs to have a chance to win. Russ went 11-5 his rookie yr. Big Ben went 13-0 his rookie yr. won a SB the next yr.

It's all about having the proper coaching and roster around a rookie QB

Stafford for 2 2nds would be freaking awesome

About Russell and Big Ben I´m pretty sure that both were carried by his team and not the other way.

Our roster in 2019 carried Garoppolo but in 2021 I don´t know if our roster is gonna be able to carry a rookie QB because the roster is good but we´re gonna have a new DC, a mediocre O-line at best and an average secondary.

I mean, our roster in 2021 it´s gonna be good but I don´t think it´s gonna be good enough to carry a rookie QB to the Super Bowl and in 2022 we´re gonna lose some more pieces..
