Sadly I don't think Shanahan will use a 1st round pick on a QB. I still think he would rather sign or trade for Cousins or Matt Ryan.

49ers won't have the cap space for either one.
I think the Hoodie already has his eyes on Wilson.

Bet Steve Young is hoping the Niners take him!

I'm not talking this year, I'm saying sometime in the future maybe perhaps 2022. I think they stick with Jimmy G for at least another season, I don't think they get rid of him next year.
we need this kid

If we're in position to draft Wilson next offseason, Shanahan has to do it (imo). I'm wondering if he doesn't want to hang his hat on his own rookie QB for the reason that it might blow back on him? His man crush over Cousins needs to DIAF. A good QB like Wilson on a rookie deal would, as you mentioned, free up tons of cap space. Since the cap is gonna be dropping, that would be a big deal for us and help us retain some of our UFAs.

The Vikings will try to unload Cousins but there's no way we can stay under the cap with his massive contract, so its improbable they'll find many takers. This crop of QBs is pretty good, who knows how long until the next great ones emerge from the college ranks.

There was a time when Nick Bosa was also a pipe dream.
Can't wait to see how he performs vs Boise St this week.

Lol you don't know Shanahan then. He's picky when it comes to offensive players, shoot I thought Jerry Jeudy would definitely be what he was looking for.

We just have to pray that Shanahan & Lynch makes the right decision to draft him if we're in position and he's on the board. Lawrence and Fields go are the first two QBs who come off more than likely (as if that wasn't obvious to everyone lol).

Jeudy and DK Metcalf/AJ Brown. Really thought that one of those Ole Miss receivers would remind him of Julio Jones.
Anyone here concerned about his performance last season vs ranked opponents?

Not really. He was coming off shoulder surgery he had prior to the start of the 2019 season. He missed spring ball in 2019 and was very limited in fall camp. Then his week 1 opponent was Utah who probably had a top 5 pass D (statistically #10).

He was then hurt again and had to get hand surgery mid-season

I think 2019 was kind of a wash for Zach Wilson due to the injuries

Then keep him away from the 49ers S&C staff lol
