Zach Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos

Whatever any of you think about Jimmy he's 22-8 as a starter for us and was our QB in a Superbowl, if we're dumping him we need to be SURE his replacement has similar success or numbers.

This is a move that gets you fired if you're wrong.

It's similar to Goff, they got to a Superbowl and needed to let it play out before he was dumped, one injury hit year isn't playing it out IMO.
he's been out two years, will three wasted years help your decision ?

3 wasted years on one expensive player is worse to an Org than trying to get better at a position of need

He played well enough for a second year QB that Jacksonville had zero interest in a QB.

You can't say SD can't move off Rivers then in the same breath say ATL is gonna draft a QB. Ryan had 4,600 yards and 26 tds this yr.

Chargers weren't drafting a QB because the top two went off the board so fast, instead they stood pat and took Bosa. If Wilson or Fields drops to the Falcons, they'd have to consider either one pretty strongly.

As far as the prospects. They have 3 OL that will be top 15 picks. This draft has MUCH better WRs at the top and 2 CBs that will be top 12 picks as well. The only thing it's lacking is a true elite edge prospect and once Paye and Gregory Rousseau have their pro-days, I'll bet they move up. Parsons will also be drafted higher than most think.

People forget about opt outs but scouts don't.

Teams that need QB's will prioritize QB's, team like Philly, Cincy, Miami and others are the ones that will be looking at OL and WR. And there's not a single edge rusher or CB as good as Bosa and Ramsey were in 2016.

Right now its quite a good possibility that the Jets, Falcons and Panthers are all looking QB and Carolina hasn't been shy about being aggressive. If there's a QB they like, they are in better position to move up for them than the 49ers are.

Like I said, you make the move and his replacement is better and healthier then fine.

If not heads will roll. Are we in that space at the moment?

Many fans seem to be, we'll what our staff think soon.

Anyway this thread has been derailed enough. Zach Wilson is a stud, and has everything we want in a QB, people trying to argue Mac Jones is better are smoking the good stuff.

Yeah he goes through progressions when he has too. He also had 600 more yards to open receivers than any QB in college this yr. He was 2nd in the NCAA in screen yards as well.

Jones from the neck up is a good QB. That's half the battle.

Get the ball to your playmakers. Isn't that his job? And he did it damn well in that offense. What other hater remarks can you come up with for Mac?

Except JG has 2/3 injury plagued years in his time here. That's a pattern not an accident. He had his chance imo, and we need to move on. This is the year to do it with so many good QBs. Go get Wilson, and he'll turn this offense into something special sooner rather than later with his arm talent.

Huge pocket, Stare down first read, throw to first read, Repeat. Get the ball to your playmakers

What did I say was a hater remark? Everything I said is the truth. He had 600 more yards thrown to open WRs than any QB in the NCAA. 2nd most yards from screens in college. 57th highest avg yards per attempt in college (8.8 yards). He throws a pretty deep ball and is good from the neck up.

We're debating about absolutely nothing right now lol. You're guessing as much as I am.
Trade Jimmy (and his salary)...Trade up for Wilson (would be nice if this was a package deal)
Bring in a decent vet QB at a reasonable price
Have a QB1/QB1a situation next season.
Tua/Fitz kinda thing...Tua stuggled, Fitz went in and played well
Wilson struggles? Have someone go in and play well enough to win some games.
We cant have another Jimmy G is hurt and now we have to rely on Beat-Hard or BDN to win us anything.

Good plan in theory, but does Jimmy waive his no trade clause in that scenario? What's the price to move up, and are you willing to outbid the other teams that have even worse QB situations?

Could Fitz succeed in our system? If not who are the other vets?

If we do it and miss the playoffs does Jed get twitchy?

All are valid questions for me and a bigger unknown than, keep Jimmy improve the backup situation (hopefully with a promising rookie) and then see where we're at next year.

I don't see us trading Jimmy because who would want him? Maybe because his price is actually not terrible with the alternatives out there? imo he's on the roster next year even if we draft a QB rd 1. Or cut. lol

I really like Wilson btw, but we would have to seriously PAY up to move to 2 and that if the Jets don't want him.

And if you don't get a QB of the future and go all in with Jimmy only to see him get hurt and have yet another lost season...does Jed get twitchy all the same? If you lose talent because you can't afford them (because of Jimmy) and don't make the playoffs, does Jef get twitchy? Who's the backup if we keep Jimmy? It can't be Joe blow. That's gonna cost money (which we have less of keeping Jimmy).

If SF goes 8-8 with a watered down roster and Jimmy isn't anything special, then what? You have no young QB to hang your hat on. You're not sitting in a good spot to draft a QB either. You're in QB purgatory.

It's funny we got some posters saying it's super bowl or bust, we can't get rid of Jimmy...it's just too risky lol

then we have guys saying, how can we trade Jimmy, I mean who's gonna want him lol.

the variance of how we all feel about Jimmy is wild.

Jimmy is like the Dominos of the pizza game. It does it's job but man if you just put in some extra money or effort there's much much better out there.

Come on, one more year is not all in, he would get no more guaranteed money, and in my plan we'd still have a QB in the building, just not one we spent the earth for.

If you had said, Jimmy gets hurt and you have a poor year, then fine, but you seem to have forgotten his record, and more importantly our record with him.

You also glossed over that my plan also has a potential QB of the future, so where's the purgatory?
