Any deal that we'd do in a heartbeat, means the other team wouldn't. If it doesn't hurt, even a little bit, it's not a realistic trade.

1, that's more about protecting Kyle and the perception that you'll have to rush to play the rookie.
We both know I'm predicting Lance to be there, Mac Jones is way behind the others as my 5th option, but I'd also be ok with him.
If this were next year and we'd had a similar year of either injury for Jimmy or lack of progress. I'd pull the trigger on a move all the way to 2, pretty much whatever it took, I just think the dynamic would be a lot different.
I just think that the perception in the building is that even though we could do better, we could also win a Superbowl with him, and therefore do a lot worse.
Why? If you love a QB go get him...If you don't think any of these guys are gonna be a good FQB that's one thing. I don't think you believe that though.
Next yr doesn't matter...next yr could be a horrible draft class.
all I'm saying is if you like a prospect enough to make them the FQB, then future picks don't matter.
no one is gonna pressure Kyle to play a rookie sooner, so long as whomever else is playing QB isn't completely s**tting the bed.

If Kyle loves him and thinks he's the FQB...absolutely.

So in your trade the farm and Jimmy for cap relief who is this QB not s**tting the bed?
Zach Wilson is my favourite QB of this class, but considering the cost I like others as well.

I dunno, we could have totally different problems / priorities right now than our trading partner (much like last year trading Buckner to the Colts). Talent rich roster but cash strapped so more likely to trade high end starting players than premium picks. Other teams are cap and draft capital rich (Colts then, Jets now) but lacking talent on the roster.
This trade instantly gets them 3 proven quality starters who already have succeeded in their system AND two firsts - one of which is guaranteed high enough to get another potential high end starter. Jets side of this trade is both safer and more likely to bring them instant success for a new HC. If Wilson is anything short of a top 5 QB in the NFL the Jets win that trade by a mile.

Yeah, but Buckner hurt, a lot. I bet it hurt the Colts to give up #13, that's how these things work.
Ashton Davis & Marcus Maye are better than Jimmy Ward, and I doubt Armstead is the pass rusher they want, they've got big guys, they could just go sign Yannick.
Also, do you think we'll be the only team in the market for #2, and do you think that offer holds up?

Instantly competitive? That doesn't solve their issues at edge or corner and they still have unanswered questions at QB.
It also would be smarter for the Jets to resign Maye than to trade for a FS.

Ball Placement vs. Accuracy
— Jordan Reid (@Jordan_Reid) February 4, 2021
A clear understanding of the difference between the two is why #BYU QB Zach Wilson has made a huge rise to stardom and unlocked the next stage of his development.

Awesome video, I love me some Wilson, I'm praying that the Jets either take Fields (Or even better accept a trade down for him from a competitor like the Panthers). The Dolphins take Sewell and we can work a reasonable trade after that.
Just can't see us getting to 2 after the bidding war

That's my thing. To get to 2 would cost a ton. Picks 2-4 could all go QB so they may not even be willing to trade down. I think the Jets and dolphins would have to pass on Wilson, then we overpay Atlanta to get him.

Zach Wilson might be the most natural pure passer (along with Mahomes) as QB prospects that I have seen since I began QBFR in 2016

if he's your FQB for the next 10+ yrs giving up a little more doesn't matter. You man up and make a move.
no risk it, no biscuit!!

Why the heck would the Jets accept that?
