I don't think negotiations are done yet.

I could see us swapping with the Jets. I know its bad for the cap, but would love to send the 3 and AA for 2.

nope... Saleh is giving us a solid on this one

Nope.

More likely we tried to do a deal with Joe Douglas for #2. Jets were firm in not having interest in moving off the pick which tells us Wilson is likely their guy. We moved up to secure one of the remaining 3 whom Kyle also sees as a FQB.
if they don't need to trade to #2, why trade to 2 ? Saleh and lynch were shoulder to shoulder at the Wilson proday today.. now we have a trade coincidentally

plus, Fields hasn't even had his pro day yet

This move was for Wilson. I'm a huge Mac Jones fan, but you don't give away all this for a safe player or 2 guys who are huge risk in Lance and Fields. Lynch knows something or has a deal already in place with NYJ if he could secure a top 5 pick and it kept the Jets from having to drop all the way to 12th.

Why is Fields a risk? Bc he is a ohio state QB? Fields is extremely talented. I'm a huge buckeyes fan and his talent is a night and day difference from all the other ohio state qbs that went pro. Dude is super accurate. Has a strong arm. I've seen him go through is reads multiple times last season. And the deep throws are sensational. If anyone can coach this kid up its Shanahan and McDaniels.

Sorry Zach, we tried to come and get you, but the Jets want you unless you pull a Eli Manning and tell them you only want to play for the 9ers.

We will take Trey Lance now unless someone can tell me the Jets prefer another QB.

The media has already decided they dont like Fields. He could have the greatest pro day of all time and run a 4.3 and they wont be impressed.

You see how Jeremiah made excuses for Wilson's s**tty performance against Coastal Carolina? He wont do that for Fields when discussing Northwestern.

It's all narrative, and Fields doesnt fit in right now. He will fall past the top 10 and make some team extremely happy.

What do Lance and Fields have in common that make them "risks"? The narrative is always the same. No point in arguing.

You try trading to #2 because they are sure they get their guy. You don't want #3 only for the Jets to trade #2 away after that and you lose your guy. And the Jets aren't in the business of telling others their draft plans. If Saleh did that, it's a great way to create friction with Jets ownership and with Douglas right from the jump.

They either don't need to see Fields pro day as they already are convinced by game tape and interviews or their interest at 3 is for Lance/Jones IMHO.
Some talk out there that the JETS are all about Trey Lance.

I think we suddenly have a significant chance at drafting Wilson.

They run a lot . Everyone is always extra paranoid over QBs that don't stay in the pocket. It's kind of silly to still be though. Look at what Josh Allen and Jackson have done as of late.

Fields and Lance have two very different concerns thought . Lance being that he has very little in game experience and played very weak teams.

Fields narrative is that his team was stacked and Ohio QBs always suck . Can thank Haskins for that one. And that's a s**tty narrative
Well... I can't believe it, but he feels like a possibility now.

So Wilson is skinny and frail, with serious injury history and plays against garbage competition with an excellent offensive line. I think he was blitzed least out of all these qbs.

My point is, I hear about Lance and Fields shortcomings constantly.. very rarely do you hear about Wilson and Lawrence. Why do you think that is? Shouldn't all the top prospects be analyzed equally?
That must have been Robert Saleh screaming at the end.

You might think it's all closed doors in bunkers on plans.. but they are all in a club. They do talk

That might be one of the most impressive throws I have seen before. I think he got the Jags thinking after that throw.

Not sure what you're reading man. I've seen many people talk about how small Wilson is and his injuries. He was called Mormon manziel. His competition wasn't that bad. Somewhere around the middle. He's the only top prospect that has had his attitude questioned.

Lawrence has been hailed as a perfect prospect though. I haven't looked into it (because there's no reason to, we ain't getting him) so I can't say myself.

Lance played only 1 game in 2020 and it wasn't good. So we're all going off his training footage and 2019 tape. Of course he's a risky pick. But he's still a top 5 prospect. Sounds pretty fair to me. Not sure if you're expecting him to be ranked higher than Lawrence who has won a national championship and has consistently performed at a high level for 40 games.
