I think the 49ers logo was on the football, but the entire message was "Goodbye, 49ers. Hello, Jets!"
That reads as a pretty fair eval. I do think his field vision is a little overrated - hes not bad, but he does leave some plays out there. I think Hero touched on this earlier, but you also want to make sure his reliance on his upper body, or his lackadaisical lower half mechanics, as Cossell put it, does not become habbit.

So say this is spot on. Is this why they tried to trade to 5 and then up? Because they didn't need to trade up to 3 for Jones. But since they didn't have any takers in lower spots, they decided to make sure they got him no matter what. I can see this.

It could be that they were convinced that Jones would be gone by 8 and they couldn't secure a trade up at 6, 5 or 4. We'll see. For now I think that Wilson, Fields, Lance and Jones are all in play at #3.

What if they thought ATL at 4 will get Jones cuz he's pretty much a way younger Ryan. Hence, moving up to 3 to ensure that doesn't happen (although I denounce picking Jones).

Getting to #3 now makes it feasible to get to #2. But, the Jets may want Wilson badly, so they're not going to entertain offers. It appears that a conclusive narrative has emerged that Wilson is the definitive #2 QB in this draft. I know a couple of his uncles/great uncles and this is a highly intelligent, accomplished family. He's going to excel in the interviews, wonderlic, etc all the stuff outside of the physical part of the game, and his pro day was apparently impressive.

The question I have is what will change for the Jets for them to actually improve with Wilson instead of Darnold. I loved Darnold in college and I still have the feeling he can be a good QB, but I fear he's now damaged similarly to what happened to David Carr's career.

Interesting you bring up family. One of Wilson's red flags was an overbearing family. Could they do an Archie Manning and say there's no way my kid is going to New York, he's staying close to home to play in SF ?

I'm actually with you here, Kolohe. I don't think Kyle makes this move for anyone else but Wilson, and I think Saleh has given Kyle some intel.

I feel like 49ers fans who are still holding onto hope for Wilson are like this.

I'd like to think you guys are right but who are the Jets going to take at 2? Unless they just love Lance or Fields over Wilson. Consensus NFL media sayings it's Wilson that they love.

They are not taking Sewell, they just took Becton. They are not taking Pitts at 2 overall, I'd be shock even as talented as he is.
Only thing that may sway them is if we offer them our 2nd rounder to swap our 1st rounders. They aren't just going to give it away. Even then, if they love Wilson, they are not trading the pick.

They've already give up a ton to move up. Not sure how much more they can afford when every remaining pick becomes absolutely precious for the next couple of years.

I agree, just mentioning what it might take

Given what's at stake (a QB with the tools to compete for an MVP in a couple years), I think it would take more than what most would consider a fair offer. Maybe much more.
This dude is going to the Jets. Saleh ain't stupid so we gotta stop daydream. Lawrence is one and Wilson is two and we gotta pick one of the others to learn behind Jimmy
What if Wilson pulls an Eli Manning?

San Fran is a quick flight and a 12 hour drive from his hometown.

I doubt it happens, but it does they'll make us draft their guy and then pay over the rate to trade.
