That would be so sweet if it goes like that!

One can hope. On one hand, Wilson has a lot of the same problems Fields does (seeing wide open guys), but I think he might even be worse at it.

However, Wilson has that elite arm angle trait, and elite improvisation, and I think he surpass everyone in the draft in those categories. And he has a little juice too. Not the same level as Fields, but it's very good.

But if this happens, Wilson is going to need some development. It is rare that guys get a lot better at seeing the field. Wilson needs a lot of work on this. Just like Fields would, but I think Wilson needs it more.

So the odd thing is, the only reason you'd draft Wilson over Fields is that Wilson has that Jimmy Garoppolo/Mahomes weird release angle ability. They all can do it, but Wilson is better at everyone in this draft at it. His release is special. Otherwise, I can't think of anything else besides that and improvisation in which Wilson is better than Fields. So how important is that to the Jets?
^^ For the record, it's extremely important to me. Enough so that he's my favorite in the draft.

You mean like Aaron Rodgers release? Rodgers probably has the greatest throwing ability I have seen ever. The dude can have an inch of space to throw and still tighten the motion up and laser it 20 yards with serious drive behind the ball in an instant.

JG has the release talent but his throws don't have that drive on them.

Yeah. Rodgers has a stronger arm than Wilson, but the arm talent is similar I feel.
And why is Steve Young making things worse for the 49ers, by encouraging the Jets even more for Wilson or encouraging other teams to try trade up to #2.

He's got such a hard on for Wilson. And he has to rub it on on a daily basis that we are not getting him.

I think he's just doing his job here m8. He loves Wilson, he talks about football for a living, and he isn't a liar or a phony.
lock it up!

2. ZACH WILSON, BYU
Biggest pro: Off-platform arm talent
Wilson did so many amazing things throughout his 2020 breakout campaign. He notched a 90.0 passing grade in over half of his games played, leading him to a single-season PFF College record passing grade of 95.5. Arguably, Wilson's most impressive trait from 2020 was his ability to easily hit off-platform throws. His 86.4 passing grade outside of the pocket this past season led the 2021 class.

Biggest con: Untested under pressure
With an unbelievably talented offensive line going up against cupcake competition, Wilson faced minimal pressure in 2020. Just 21.6% of his dropbacks came with pressure this past year, the eighth-lowest rate in the FBS and the second-lowest in the class. That will change once he makes the jump to the NFL. Still, Wilson showed no indications that he is going to struggle at the next level with defenders bearing down on him. He converted pressure to sacks at a minimal 12.7% rate while recording the third-best passing grade under pressure in the FBS, including no turnover-worthy plays.

It's not the jets for me. I'm concerned cause I assume Panthers really like Mac and now with this it leads me to believe now that they suspect we're getting Mr. Jones. I always knew NY would grab a qb.
There goes that 1% chance that the Jets weren't taking Wilson. Fields, Jones or Lance it is.

Or Rhule sees a big turnaround opportunity with Darnold. Now instead of going QB, Carolina can add a heavy duty offensive weapon. Imagine adding Pitts, Chase or Waddle to the current talent they have. Not bad.
