Now we have to hope they don't pick the guy we like.

The 49ers have probably known who the Jets are taking or at least are ok with them taking whoever. The Jets trading Darnold reduces the chances of them being convinced to trade out of #2 which means the 49ers have even less of a reason to smokescreen their own choice.

Exactly
If Wilson ends up in NY, I think he'll be a bust there. Jets fans are impatient and want a real QB but they don't have much around him. He'll likely struggle if they can't get better receivers and a decent O line. He may end up getting traded in about 3 years just like Darnold. The Jets don't have a great track record with QBs.

It's not the jets for me. I'm concerned cause I assume Panthers really like Mac and now with this it leads me to believe now that they suspect we're getting Mr. Jones. I always knew NY would grab a qb.

Why the hell would the panthers be infatuated with Jones when the owner has a hard on for Watson? You don't think they'd prefer fields over Jones?

Wasn't this the exact reason people wanted him and others over Mac Jones?

Jones was said to need a supporting cast and Oline
We could draft Pitts and wait a couple years after the Jets have ruined Wilson's career and get him on the cheap like the Panthers just did with Darnold. In theory we would come away with two studs from this draft.

Eh...I wouldn't say that.

They have their franchise left tackle in Becton who looked very good as a rookie. At WR they have Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder and Denzel Mims. With LaFleur and Benton they will be bringing in the Shanahan run game so that is one more thing to take the pressure off a young QB. With the picks they have, if they can add a good TE prospect and continue building up the OL, they'll be in pretty decent shape.

LaFleur has also been with Kyle forever. I think he's learned enough to run that offense well. If Wilson flops, I think it will have far more to do with Wilson than anything else.

It was reported rhule was really liking mac jones in the senior bowl. But as we know reports don't usually mean s**t but who knows.

Rhule also attempted to recruit Mac Jones to Temple and then to Baylor.

I wish they let other teams win one. 2 years in a row since drafting QW

Watson is off the table. The Darnold trade was made because they knew Watson is toxic. That meant the odds of getting Jones at #8 were slim.

This will go down as the Over-hyped Quarterback Year. Perfect storm for guys to jump to the top of the draft.

Or Rhule sees a big turnaround opportunity with Darnold. Now instead of going QB, Carolina can add a heavy duty offensive weapon. Imagine adding Pitts, Chase or Waddle to the current talent they have. Not bad.

Agreed. Smart move by him. He can see if they have something there with D'Arnold. Regardless of how it went in NY, he WAS regarded as a first round pick in 2018. I thought the price was steep, but I suppose he's betting on his ability to develop D'Arnold. With that said, it's no pressure on their part. If a QB falls to them, great. If one doesn't, he can get one of the receivers. The interesting thing is, now Carolina has to make the decision on that 5th year option.

I'm not understanding this the Jets will ruin Zach Wilson talk. They've got a pretty good offensive staff there. I also like that Saleh is bringing in younger coaches. Leonard Hankerson is an offensive assistant- are we THAT old? Some of the takes being made are just silly. Wilson is going to get some of the best offensive coaching and NY is off to a good start. My guess is that they go O-line with the second pick. Now will he be the starter day 1? I wouldn't if I were them (save for Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck type of readiness, I'd sit virtually all rookie QBs). But Wilson is going into a far better situation than Sam D'Arnold did. And that is no disrespect to Todd Bowles. I just don't think he had the offensive staff in place to develop a rookie QB.

Dude...it's just Darnold. Stop trying to make him seem fancy.
