Zach Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos

While watching Zach Wilson tonight, I noticed Fred Warner's brother is playing for BYU. I wonder how much potential he's got. If he's anything like his brother, I say we take a look at him as well.

I say let him start day 1. All this "knowing the playbook" stuff is great and all, but it should come second to the ability to make plays of the QB who we put out there.

As far as JG is concerned, if nobody is willing to trade for him, he probably gets released and we eat the 2M dead cap hit. Hopefully someone will be willing to trade a 3rd/4th for him though and take his contract from us (year to year team option deal is enticing).

So you believe a rookie QB is better off being thrown to the wolves, learning from example and not leaning (in this case) on vet presence? As opposed to sitting a year or so behind an established pro?

Reps > sitting on the bench watching others play imo. He could sit for a few games, but not an entire season.

No question and the two best QBs in the game did it differently.

Wilson started as a rookie. Mahomes set for a year.

I think it depends on what Kyle would want out of the QB. Considering he has no problem pounding the rock I think a rookie could start early in a game manager mode. Assuming the roster can be kept together at key spots and our guys come back healthy with no setbacks(upside to early season end injuries is more time to heal and rehab before next year) then we just need the rookie to make some key throws that Kyle would likely make pretty well defined but let the running game and D do the bulk of the heavy lifting.

Now if we want to have the kid sit and learn so he can hit the ground running with the full offense then Mahomes route makes sense.

Our skill players are good. Our OL is a question mark and that's assuming we resign Williams. One way to ruin a talented young QB is to get him shell shocked by all the hits.

I hope if we go QB we spend a good amount of FA/draft capital ensuring our pass protection is improved before he sees the field.
Definitely not Wilson's most impressive game thus far.
Play calling is a little suspect but so far he's not playing the best either. Still early though

Injury plagued career but he has been playing very well this season. He has plenty of talent.

Yup let's see. I like when QBs struggle and still find a way to win.

This but let's see what happens the 2nd half. This game and the SDSU game will tell us plenty about what he can do against better teams.
Playcalling is almost KS bad on the last two drives.
That's more like it.

Not afraid to get hit, nice.

Either route taken, whether the rookie starts right away or gets to sit for a while before coming in; we're going to be better off when he gets into the lineup. A QB with Wilson's ability has all the skills to take over every game he's in and we won't have to lean on the run so much like with Jimmy and Mullens. It will help of course when the go play pass, but Wilson has been throwing a lot of deep balls from outside the pocket and on drop backs from the clips I've seen.

I agree, investing in the OL to improve pass pro is a necessity for whoever is at QB next year. Nobody will be able to be comfortable or confident behind Shanahan's lines that are solely built to run block by design (seemingly).

Don't curr draft him now!
The more I watch and like Wilson, the less I think he'll be on Kyle's radar.
