If we could get a QB and a Center in next year draft would be sick. Those 2 are positions of need and require a lot of chemistry, nothing better than being on the same draft class.

I prefer they go out and get a veteran at Center, someone like Alex Mack, 35, gonna be a free agent. I think the 49ers could afford him.
Out of all the QBs in the draft this guy has the biggest boom or bust potential. His arm isn't special and his athletic ability while good isn't elite like it is being made out to be. NFL defensive players are a lot faster and he won't have 5 seconds to throw at the NFL level like he does at BYU. I also can see him throwing a decent number of INTs as well.

I do like his quick release and statue in the pocket. If he can be coached up at the NFL level and in the right system he has a chance to be good or very good.

An expensive free agent that might be on his last legs. That's the ticket.

I'm pretty sure Shanahan will try to lure him to SF. I think it was Shanahan who wanted him from Cleveland with their time together in 2014. Plus he's from Cali, so maybe he might give a hometown discount for what might be his last contract at 35. Remember he signed his big contract 5 years ago, do you think he gets the same??

I really doubt that he'll expensive.

Looking at what the Eagles gave up to move from 8 to 2 for Wentz - I would have no problem making a similar deal to go from 10-11 to around 4-5 if our guy is there.

Tired of having the 4th best QB in the division. Being content with 4th isn't enough.

Need the cap space, need the QB, need to re-sign key guys.

Three birds, one stone.

Maurice Castillo, Antonio Taylor, our first rounder next year, and the year after that
Alex Mack is a good center but I hate to give a long contract to a guy that's 35. That's about when linemen start breaking down. I'd hate to end up with another Richburg situation. As for Wilson, I hope he can finish the season without any cancellations. Games are being cancelled left and right. Three in the SEC this week. They need to get all the game film they can on all these QBs.

Mack is going to retire. He almost retired this year I read. I wouldn't go after him

After what I've seen out of Trent Williams this year, no thanks.

Shanahan and Lynch have largely rebuilt this roster through the draft. I'd like to see them stick with that strategy.
PFF writing about Zach Wilson and the BYU Offense. Does an offense rooted in the outside zone sound familiar to anyone? The opportunity to use Aiyuk & Samuel to attack defenses vertically on a more consistent basis would bring a whole new dynamic to the Niners' system. This is really getting too obvious for Lynch & Shanahan.

"The Cougars have done a tremendous job when showing that outside zone run before pulling the ball and running play action off that concept. Their whopping .75 expected points added per play on outside zone play actions is absurd. Wilson averages 14.3 yards per attempt on those throws. This is not just outside zone action to slip a tight end to the flat. They are going to explode on you with a deep throw. Wilson's average depth of target of 15 yards ranks third-highest in the country among quarterbacks with over 10 attempts."

I see us shedding salary cutting Ford, Richburg, Jimmy G if we can't trade him, and not signing Sherman.
We have to go QB now in round one possibly trading next year's first to move up. Hope it's Wilson. We need to replace starters though so I see us being in the free agent market again especially for a center like Linsey from GB. We should be able to spend again with some people off the books and a QB on a rookie deal.
Hopefully, we can keep our 2nd to grab a CB.

And what exactly have you seen from Trent Williams?
