I don't disagree with the level of competition statement. However I do disagree that he's not worth moving up for. His skillset is elite, and his arm talent is there and he can make every throw accurately. Wilson is the type of QB that can carry a team when it's down and needs a spark imo. He'd keep us competitive in the division for years to come.
This. Competition isn't the end all be all. Traits is just as important, especially with the QB position and Wilson has it all. And with regard to his competition, he's doing exactly what is expected when someones level is just above everyone else, he's smashing everybody he faces and standing out as the best player on the field.
Exactly, it would be very concerning if he was struggling to beat low level competition. But he's not, as you said, Wilson is doing everything right and playing like the best player on the field, which he is.
He makes NFL throws with regularity and makes it look easy. He's comfortable with turning his back to the defense on play action (something Jimmy struggles with), manipulates defensive backs with his eyes, reads defenses well, feels pressure, and is mobile enough to keep broken plays alive while keeping his eyes downfield. He seems like the whole package.
If he was struggling against low level competition nobody would be talking about him so that is a moot point. Competition does matter. Feasting on weak teams makes people look better. Trading up is one thing, and he very well may be worth it after seeing his full season work, but trading 3 numbers 1s to not move up to number one is a moronic idea. I never stated he wasn't worth trading up for so you're disagreeing with an argument that was never made. Some of you guys think everything BYU does is great like some of my LDS friends.
If they traded 3 number 1s and he wasn't incredible you guys would be the first to complain about how dumb that trade up was. The Goff example from 15 to 1 is way cheaper than 3 number 1 picks.
I'd offer what the Rams gave for Goff to get Lawrence or Fields.
Not for Wilson obv. Def down to trade up into top 10 to get Wilson though. We conceivably could get as high as the #7 pick.
Today's L against the Saints gets us one step closer to Zach Wilson. Sad we can't count on Jimmy now and have to draft a QB and not an EDGE or CB in the 1st.
