This dude has IT.
Hard no on Trask, Jones, and Lance.
And since we have no chance at Lawrence or Fields we must get this guy.

Mein first glance is he's an good quarterback. Something weird goes on with his back foot fairly often, but it doesn't seem to interfere with his ability to get the ball where it's supposed to go. I like him. At least based on the little I see. He seems to have an good repertoire of passes, and can throw deep with the high arc. He is shifty in the pocket, and seems to be able to make the throws across the field to the sideline.
But as I said, I've not watched enough to know. But this looks pretty good (aside from the weird foot thing):

I'm thinking he's going to rise in the rankings, and it just might. But at this point we need an better QB and one that is MUCH cheaper than Jimmy. I feel you should draft at least one QB every draft, like Bill Walsh would say. If I were to draft one, given we won't be picking first, I'm thinking it's him.

Does anyone else see Baker Mayfield when they watch him?

Why cuz he's white, not super tall and mobile?

His nickname is literally Mormon Manziel.

Yes to each of those but also his release and how he kind of pushes the ball, similarly to Baker.

I didn't know that, but that's a funny nickname

Baker and a focused Manziel has been his floor comparison noted by some analysts.

When it comes to evaluating players...especially when talking early first round pick/big trade up, I always like to hear how they are off the field.
Does anyone know the kid's story? I don't have an issue with the swag look but I'd love to know he's a workaholic who loves the game and grinds tape, works on his craft.
The tape is terrific IMO but Manziel failed more because of the off the field stuff. Mayfield is still up in the air but he may be spending more time selling insurance than working on being a better QB.
I'd love to know the guy we go all out for has it on the field and works his ass off to improve off the field.

From a lot that i've read and heard during games, this guy works really hard. Drove hours to do QB drills during the spring when things were locked down. I don't think he's a risk off the field.

Are his comps really Manziel and Baker?

Better arm. Better off play-action. Better vision.

So he's a better prospect than #1 pick Mayfield? And he's consensus #3 QB in this draft?

Guy seems like a poor man's Mahomes in how he plays.
I'll take that all day long.
Keep Jimmy (unless can trade for a high 2nd and guarantee landing Wilson) and light a fire under his arse and if performance is lacking at all next year, he is on a short leash and pull him.
